Default I can Vouch for Monoprice Mounts... Others?

If you have a monoprice mount.. please tell us how its holding up.

i mounted a 46" panny with the "premium" mount, it cost about $43 after tax and shipping.

the story of the lag bolts is false, though one did break because my dad put like all his body weight on it ( about 140/150 lbs) while he was turning it and all that torque probably caused it, he did another four which had zero problems.

my other friend has a 42" sammy LCD and he bought the swivel mount and he moves quite a bit, the build quality is the same if not better then a Peerless wall mount, my dad has a peerless one for his 47" and theyre like identical.

so if u have/had any doubts about a monoprice wall mount, heres living proof theyre good to go.

They actually just pissed me off. I am a loyal monoprice customer who has ordered over $500 worth of stuff. I am thinking I am going to stick with their cables though and nothing else.

I just bought a pair of speaker stands and a pair of speaker mounts. They mounts didn't come with the single screw adapter which the box says should have 2. The stands I ran into another issue. One put together perfectly and is nice, while the other wants to tip over no matter how I try and place it or put together. After tinkering around I realized that the base (which is a donut shaped weight and 4 leg piece that goes over it are defective. The 4 leg piece won't screw into place and shifts around causing the stand to fall. The hole they cut out is too big and doesn't stay grounded, while the other one does.

I really think they just throw crap together half-assed with some of their stuff. Their cables are great, but I am very upset and don't want to deal with the return (I threw the box out because it was getting in my way while putting things together and it was trash day) because their product is defective and the other product didn't have all the right pieces in it. I really wanted to finish my speaker project this weekend, but now I know it'll take at least a week to straighten out.

Sorry for my rant, I'm just frustrated.

I just came to this conclusion at about 10pm tonight, so I haven't had a chance to talk to them. I sent them an email and will call in the morning. I doubt they refund without me sending my stuff back, which means I'll have to eat the cost of shipping and pay for it to go back, therefore paying shipping twice for their mistake. I'm not going to ask for replacements because I don't think the items are built well.

I hope they treat me well because I have purchased a lot of products from them and I feel these issues are their fault.

I bought one for my parents' 32in vizio in their bedroom through monoprice. It's been holding up great and was really easy to assemble and attatch to the wall.

I recently installed one of their tilt wall mounts for my 52" Sony. So far it is holding up just fine. I also had a similar problem as the OP with one of the lag bolts (it snapped on me). I blame that on me over-torquing it though. I went to Home Depot to replace the lag bolts for stronger ones and I came to find out the ones they sell at Home Depot are the exact same ones that came with the mount. I replaced the broken bolt and so far it is doing good

why not just demand a call tag?? im sure if it is defective and its not anything to do with your end, they will gladly issue you a call tag.

I ordered the cheap tv mount from ebay(which is the exact same one on Monoprice)
for 26 bucks.

I have my 46" sharp hanging on it for about two months and haven't had any problems. It wasn't too difficult to put together, but was missing a few screws(I found repacements at the hardware store for about 50 cents).

It doesn't tilt too much, but the way it naturally rests is facing slightly down at a perfect angle for viewing from my couch.

I have 3 mounts from them and they're all doing fine. I'm using one for a 52", one for a 40" and one for a 27". I bought my parents one last year for their 37" and my brother bought one for his 50". Not one complaint. We're all using their HDMI wires as well with no complaints.

My 50", 107lb plasma is hanging on monoprice tilting mount #4174. Not the first problem, and with drilling proper pilot holes (NOT like the directions specify) I didn't even have any trouble with the included lag bolts.

I too am using the very inexpensive tilting monoprice wall mount. It was easy to install and works great, definitely can't be beat for the price.

I've been eyeing these mounts from monoprice and I've been hesitant about pulling the trigger on these. Everyone's been giving pretty good reviews. My concern is the installation process.

If someone can give me a quick run down of the install process, I'd be more than grateful. I have drywall, don't know how thick. I just know I have wooden studs and they are 16" apart.

Thanks

No problem. First I recommend you go drop $20 or $30 on a decent stud finder.

You mount the TV brackets on the back of your TV. It's simple, but I'm sure it varies some depending on what model TV you have. For mine, I just took out 4 screws, and then screwed the TV brackets on using the supplied screws and spacers of appropriate length. There are several lengths of screws and spacers included, so there should be a combination appropriate to your application.

Next measure from the part of the bracket to the bottom of the TV. This is useful to help determine how high you want the TV. Some people may not need to get it at an "exact" height, but I needed to in my situation.

Use the stud finder and mark your studs. This is where you need to make a height determination, if necessary. Hold the wall plate up against the wall and get it level. You may or may not need a hand to get it just right. While you hold it, mark where the screw holes need to be. BE SURE YOU HAVE IT LEVEL.

This is where the directions will let you down. To drill your pilot holes for the lag bolts, you need a drill bit just smaller in diameter than the shaft of the lag bolt. Not talking about the threads here, but the center part of the bolt. Drill the holes about as deep as the bolts are long. Now just hold your wall plate up and screw it to the wall. Try to position the wall plate so that it's as close to centered on the wall as you can. You don't have to perfectly center it though. That's why there's so many screw holes in it. Now just take your TV loose from its pedestal and lift it up and hang it on the wall plate. You'll probably need a hand to do this. There's quite a bit of play where you can slide your TV from side to side to get it centered the way you want it.

That's it for hanging the TV. If you're running cables in the wall, just say so and we can give you a hand with that too.

to install...

1) mount the brackets to the tv with the right bolts
2) locate your studs on the wall with a stud finder
3) mark where u want the stud holes to be..
4) drill holes into the stud area that is marked
5) put the wall mount on and put the lag bolts in
6) latch the tv on.. get help with another person!
7) screw on the safety latches/ adjust the angle if u want
8) enjoy ur tv!

donno about the whole pilot holes.. donno what those are. lol.

Thanks Steve. I do have a stud finder. After reading your instructions I have a few more questions, naturally. Mainly about cable connection. Is there enough clearance to remove or add hdmi/component cables behind the tv when it's mounted? Or will cables need to be connected prior to 'the final mount'?

We all have gotten rid off/added things, so I just want to cover my bases... Along with others in my situation. Also to avoid any and all avoidable frustrations! Thanks again Steve.

I can tell you for a fact that several forums recommend Monoprice for cabling and home theater needs. Their site is great. Prices are low, and their quality is solid. They've gotten lots of business just on word or mouth and recommendations. I've bought from them before and I will again.

Perhaps my next purchase might even be a tv mount. LOL

You should have enough room, depending on the mount. While I was holding mine, and before hanging it on the wall, I connected the HDMI cable and power cord, but after I hung it, I can see now that there's enough room to plug stuff in. I don't know about a flush mount though. I went with a tilting model only because it gives you another inch or so behind it (I think) to work with your cables.
