Great news, I have been complaining about Paramount only doing MPEG2 and DD5.1 encodes. Now I am only having one thing to complain about, PCM please...

Too bad the overseas release from Warner Brothers (outside USA) will probably not use AVC (maybe VC-1).
Oh well, at least it's still gonna be released on BD-50 which is good enough ![]() |

This movie is released by Dreamworks.
And Letters from Iwo Jima is Warner? Warner is always, region free. But I dunno about Dreamworks, does Dreamworks release its titles, as Region free, of do they region-lock it? Last edited by mainman; 05-07-2007 at 03:05 PM. |

MPEG-2/LPCM of course. Sound is just as important to me as video. But unfortunately Paramount can't use lossless to save their own hides, so I will applaud them for going AVC at high bit rates even if they can't get their audio straight. They could have easily just gone with their low bitrate VC-1 encode they use on HD DVD and we would have seen mixed results. As long as something didn't go horribly wrong, the high bit rate will really be noticeably better than the VC-1 encode during battle scenes.

However, in the United States, it's released by Paramount. Outside USA (all overseas teritorries), it's released by Warner Brothers. That's why I said in my post that it may use VC-1 instead of MPEG-4 AVC. I don't mind that personally...as long as they use a BD-50 disc on both flicks. ![]() |

This is kinda off the subject, but I finally saw Pearl Harbor on Blu-Ray and it was amazing. Especially the fighting scenes. WOW
