If i was you OP i would wait to see what is the next step up from that model from samsung. they already showed 6,7, and 8000 series, maby they'll show the 9000 in the summer. ( like they did last year with the 950)

I would get the 950, all the 2009 LCD's look to have edge lit LEDs and I have trouble understanding how that would be better then the local dimming of the 950. Plus when I saw the 950 in person next to the Pioneer 151, I was truly impressed, if you didn't know better you would think that they had been the same tv, I was truly amazed, especially when a white image appeared, I think it was better looking then the Pio, and blacks, we not noticably different from 10 ft away, IMO. Yes, they were both calibrated.

All 2009 LCD's are not using edge LED's. so far we only know of samsung using this in there early spring models (and i think sharp) who knows what they will use in their later models. LG is using local dimming still and a couple of others as well. sony still hasn't shown their XBR10 sets, and samsung hasn't shown whats next after the 950.

If i was you and wanted this tv and planned on getting it, i'd wait till samsung released their next line of tv's becuase the price of the ln55a950 will go down significantly.

Sorry, you misunderstood me, and I should have identified that I meant the Samsung LED's that have been introduced, not any other brand.
