Silent Hill Homecoming? Any Good - Blu-ray Forum

Just curious how this game is? can anyone give me any info?

If you played and liked any of the other SH's, you'll like this one as well. Graphics are nice--gritty and dark. Sound is top notch as always, and gameplay is similar to the other titles. Controls are more responsive I thought, and your main character is more combat evolved which is relevant to the story. This adds a little more fun factor to the monster battles. A good all around package which is worth picking up if your a fan of the series.

I played the beginning so far I would def say pick it up its an awesome game! I plan on getting more into it in the next few days.

Silent Hill: Homecoming has killed the franchise IMO. I played and finished every single game in the series. SH is now just like the RE series. Not as creepy as it used to be. Maybe I'm just getting de-sensitised in my old age.

I couldn't agree more. That being said though, I thought it was fun too. I suggest that you pick it up if you're a fan of the series.

Oh yeah, I still felt like I needed to finish it all the way through, which I did. It just felt meh. And trust me, I'm the last person to speak negative of these games. Purchased them all on day one. My PSN and LIVE ID is RESIDENTHILL for a reason.

The game is only coming here later in February 2009. I wonder why so late here in Europe. I hope that at least there is some extra content or improvements of some kind.

I've been playing this game, 360 version, for several weeks now. I am currently in the Sewers Level.
Some levels I have been playing upwards of 15 times, just to get through them perfectly.

I noticed that this game does not have the Run button feature like the first 3 Silent Hill games. It makes it difficult to run/avoid some enemies.
I did look online for a secret tip on how to open the police locker in the garage.
Overall, the game is interesting but not that scary.

I'm on the Hell's Descent level.
This game is starting to scare me, particularly this level.

I'm trying to figure out how to defeat the child's doll boss. Frustrating because there aren't a lot of health and ammo.

It took me about 90 minutes just to figure out what to do after I obtain the Ceremonial Dagger.

I'm currently stuck trying to solve this puzzle.

No save points except for in the cemetery, so I have to travel almost 2/3 of the way just to get to the attic.

Very divisive game.

HUGE fan of Silent Hill and I personally liked Homecoming. Everything up to and including your return home and the 'Scarlet' boss battle. Is it the best SH game? No. The first three Team Silent games out of Japan are the best and Silent Hill 2 is my favourite game and probably always will be.

I solved the puzzle relatively quickly yesterday. I took almost 2 weeks off from playing this game. At least I got a save point right afterwards.

Now, I have to solve puzzles in 4 different rooms in the house before I can exit.
I might play this today.

It took almost 2 hours playing this a couple of times just so I could find the 3rd medal that needs to be placed on the uniform.

Afterwards, the longest cut scene so far.
Now, I need to shut off the electricity at the power plant so I can enter the prison.
This game is huge!!

Homecoming isn't as scary as Silent Hill 3, imo. Unless, I have become numb to this sort of horror genre.

That last sentence doesn't sound good! However, I know what you mean.

Silent Hill 3 is a great game, I have fond memories of being on the Gamefaqs board for the game and waiting for its release. I played the original on PSONE and loved it, but it was Silent Hill 2 that blew me away and still does.

I don't see much love for Homecoming but I really like it. The first four Team Silent games were the best though.

I'm glad you liked Homecoming, but it is starting to become a chore for me. I've been playing this game only once a week and I will continue this weekend.
Anyway, I made it to the prison and am helping Deputy Wheeler find Elle.
I was expecting more of Pyramid Head, but he was only shown briefly in an early cut scene.

I really enjoyed homecoming. I enjoyed Downpour a bit more, but Homecoming definitely runs and plays far better. It's sad that Konami just stopped caring about the silent hill franchise.
