Default Any ideas on how to make a Pany BD-35 region free?

I've searched around and found a chip but I really don't want to solder anything on the board.

If you want yours to be region free that's what your gonna have to do. Or you could just buy a player already modified...but I will not point you to any links for some.

There isn't anyway around soldering? I am just wanting to buy the French version of Taken. You guys saying "can't discuss on here" make it sound like I am trying to bootleg and play a copy of "Danielle and Sara: Fisting 2009" I just want to see the uncut version of Taken.

No there is no away around soldering. And the reason we "can't discuss on here" is that since the BDA has taken a stance against modifying a Blu-ray player to make it region free or purchasing a pre-modified player, this site has taken that same stance.

I'm sorry? I missed that standpoint. In my country, if you buy a product meant to use (like a car, or a BD-player) you, the owner, can modify it the way you want as long as it's use is still legal in the country you are in. Since there is not much legal ground on prohibiting a BD-player to play a certain disc (because it is from another region/zone), you are legally allowed to modify your player anyway you want (you may also paint it pink if there is no artistic trademark on that ). That this will void you waranty ..... yes, that's a complety different story!

Anyway, if you do a search on these forums for the words region-free, you will find many links on where to buy these chips. Good luck, you have my blessings (for what it's worth)

(some people will miss the days of the region-free HD-DVD; sorry, couldn't resist)

I didn't say that modifying your BD player was illegal, I said that the BDA has taken a stance against it and this site has followed that suit. And yes there was a lot of discussion about it, but just recently the site has made it clear that this is the stance they will follow as well. You can modify your player until your heart's content, hell I even plan on buying a region-free player myself in the near future.

Okay, sorry for my mis-interpretation. I didn't know a respected independent website (like this one?), would/could take a stance against something that is legal . To me, it seems that if you have a standpoint like that, you are NOT independent/unbiased/objective anymore.

If so, pitty, I liked this site for the past few years, but if they take this (or any) political standpoint (IMHO), I will end my membership and stop help posting on their forum . Thanks for pointing this out, though.
