Default When HD DVD Dies

Just a broad speculation here...if HD DVD does fail...what will happen next?

like if HD DVD technology, what will be affected?

Prices?

Microsoft products will use blu -ray?

What are your opinions and predictions on what will happen?

I'd expect the rush to low margin with players to end, and a more traditional price curve to occur. Some would consider this terrible news. Others would rejoice that the efforts will go back into improving performance, quality and features, instead of everything being put into cost cutting.

I'd doubt anything substantial would happen to disc prices, as there is a more fundemental desire on the part of the studios to see a transition to a more protected format.

When HD-DVD dies...
1) a lot more movie releases
2) a lot more sales since people are holding off until one format has won
3) cheaper players due to more sales
4) more people buy PS3 as a Blu-ray player
5) microsoft has no choice but to produce a Blu-ray add-on for their 360

The sooner this happens, the better for everyone.

Ahhh they had it coming, plus a lot of them are crooks and BSer. if these HD-DVD fanboys were civilized and respectful towards Blu-ray, I would feel sorry for them but they're basically just a-holes... so they deserved it

We'd start to get some proper Blu-ray-quality encodes from Warner!

I swear I alredy wrote a thread about this called ''when the war is over''. one thing I think will happen that I won't like will be the disappearance of the buy 1 get 1 or buy 2 get 1 (currently at frys). as they will be the only hidef home media available thus removing the need to market them in such a way. but I still hope hd dvd dies soon.

when the world is over...turn off the light!...dun..dun...turn off the lights!

damn...i do see the trend, from buy one get one free to buy two get one free, thats already a trend for losing our beloved one for one.
