Default Standalone Beverage Holders for HT

My couch has no cupholders and my wife thinks putting a coffe table in our living room would make it too cramped. Does anyone make standalone drink holders, that you know of? It's really annoying not having a place for the drinkee-poos.

Awhile back I bought these things from Walgreens. They are trays with hinged bottom sides. You pull them open and put them down over the arm of a couch. Then you have the tray top. They were about 9.00 a piece. It's a good solution because the tray will hold a beverage and a plate of snacks or a bowl of popcorn.

Here's one I found at Amazon

Those look great for remotes and miscellaneous stuff, but i don't like the idea of sitting my drink on that surface. I have a 5 and 7 year old, so... yeah. Beta Man's link was cool, but for $500 i could get a decent loveseat with built in cupholders. I know, i'm too picky. Maybe i need to rearrange the furniture to somehow allow for a coffe table afterall.

Can you show us a picture of the room, so we can get an idea of what you're working with?

I think you could make something.... basically like a speaker stand, but have cup holders on the top.... just make sure the bottom is really heavy

I've seen these for around $40...

Easy X-BOX/HD-DVD owners...I'm just kidding around.

I was surprised no one else did this already.

I would make something like a table tray that looks like a "U" sideways. This will allow you to put the bottom part of the "U" under the side of your couch and then the tray part would go over your arm rest. You could fabricate the tray to have openings that would accommodate a 12oz. can, 16 oz. bottle, or better yet, your favorite cup (if larger than the previous two mentioned beverages.

I have been thinking about something like that for a while, but I've just been to busy with work things to try to get a new project started. Besides, the wife would probably want me to finish the dozen or so other projects around the house first.

I always knew those things had to have some purpose.
