Default Blue Ray - Just doesnt look right.

Hello everyone, I have just signed upto the forums so hello from sunny Aberdeen in Scotland. We have literally just gotten our first day of sunshine since our snow madness of last week :O

Anyways, I have signed up here because I have broken into the worlf of Blu-Ray. Originally I was a HD person however that has now been kicked out with immediate effect. Its a shame too because I loved the format.

Anyways, I have recently bought a new Panasonic HD tv which is a 1080p unit and also a Samsung Blu-Ray player which additionally is also a 1080p unit.

The thing that bothers me about all this is that the picture although sharp, ever looks as good as the stuff I have seen in stores or even at other peoples houses. Originally I was using an entry level HDMI cable however I recenly bought a Belkin high performance piece for around £40. However I wouldn't say that any of my Blu Ray discs where particularly breath taking.

Either I am being picky or indeed I have everything setup wrong.

Here is a basic overview. I have the HDMI cable (1080p rated of course) going from my tv to the blue ray player, simple. Blu Ray player is set to 1080p resolution and the TV auto detecs and confirms a 1080p input when you play a disc. Is there a guide to exactly how to set this up correctly or are my eagle eyes being picky as hell?

I cannot pin point what isnt right but I was in PC world yesterday and the image by comparison was amazing and any distance. Same goes when I went into Blockbuster video. It's a real shame because I spent a lot of money on the kit.

My blueray experience is being squashed please help.

My apologies if this question is in the wrong section.
