I really, really want to see this but I get the feeling the Japanese are not going to share the love and include either subtitles or dubbed track.
I hope I'm wrong. Source: http://www.releaselists.com/ ![]() Evangelion 1.11: You Are [Not] Alone Blu-ray Last edited by Deciazulado; 03-03-2010 at 06:47 PM. |

This is great to hear. When you day "They" are you talking about the company that owns the Evangelion series?
I was very disappointed to learn that BUbblegum Crisis is available in Japan but no subtitles or english audio. And I've noticed that most releases don't have either. I'll be cautiously optimistic. |

I agree with Jeff. Funimation hasn't given a specific date for a U.S. release yet and a subtitled Blu-Ray would devalue that license.
I've already used a .srt file to add subs to my DVD. (Way too much effort though) This time I might try an overlay program if Funimation hasn't given out a more firm date by May. |

Any word on whether this will be getting the much hoped for US release?
Just saw the limited edition of the last release (version 1.0) (standard DVD) on Ebay for about $75. Man, it sure looks pretty, but not knowing Japanese, and the fact that it's pretty much just a rehash of the first 6 spiodes of the series made me put my wallet away. Hopefully ADV (are they still around?) will put it out here. Need my Eva fix on Blu! Seriously I thought this would be one of the first series ported over to Blu for US audiences. That or Cowboy Bebop. Sorry DBZ doesn't count. ![]() |

Gots some info:
Here's the official press release of the Funimation aquisition: http://www.animenation.net/blog/2009...19-soul-eater/ Official Webisite: http://www2.funimation.com/evangelion/ Trailer: http://www.funimation.com/video/?page=video&v=977 Note on the right side of the trailer a release date of November 10, 2009 is given! ![]() Hopefully this will mean a Blu-ray release. However it will most likely be for the 1.01 version of the film, not the original theatrical cut. Which I think is fine, considering it's just some audio and video "tweaks", nothing major. I'd like to see the 1.11 cut hit stateside too. ![]() Apparently Funimation owns distribution on all cuts of the films. |

Yes, there just has to be enough breathing room between US and Japanese releases
Given Funimation's Blu-ray enthusiasm, there's no way I can see a Blu not hitting stateside unless there are specific licensing issues that forbid it. The second movie will likely take awhile. Japanese roadshows run long, and so I don't expect them to be able to release it here on video any earlier than spring, and that's very liberal estimate. |

Watched this over the weekend and the video quality is outstanding! I had heard that the movie series was going to change things up story-wise from the TV series, but this first one seemed to follow it pretty closely. I just hope that the subsequent movies follow through on that as I felt the TV series really fell apart in the last third. I've been enjoying Sadamato's take on the story in the manga version, so I have hope for the movies.

I've been waiting for this for a LOOOOONG time (high definition version). Finally I can put my Malaysian dvd to rest
![]() This is most likely my #1 animated release of the year and fortunately it seems like it will be worth the wait. Even Funi's packaging is beautiful. http://blog.affenheimtheater.de/2010...unimation-usa/ |
