So I might be finding a killer deal soon... problem is that the transportation for the television is limited to either my Ford escort or my wife's Yaris.
I know I've read everywhere not to lay down the plasmas, but renting a truck for a 40+ mile drive would make the deal kind of not-so-much of a deal. I don't want to ruin the TV so if I can't, I can't, but is it OK to put plasmas into tiny cars in a certain way? Also (I know this is a strange Q) anyone know if a 50" or 58" can fit into the back of a Toyota Yaris hatchback w/ the seats down? It's pretty big, but I don't know exactly where to find the dimension on either the unit OR the car "trunk"! Thanks if you can help. |

uhaul would be almost $150
![]() and i cant rent a car and NO ONE I know has a truck/van I can borrow ![]() Also: I don't care if it's boxed or unboxed, but I would PREFER it being IN the box, so that there is more padding (I will already be padding the CRAP out of my back part of the car, if it will fit) |

You can fit it out of the box, but it will have to lay on it's back with the panel up. I would suggest some kind of plastic packing sheet, usually like 1/4 inch thick, to go on top of the screen to prevent it from being scratched by whatever padding you use. As for after you've transported the item, you should let it sit for a little while, at least an hour if not two, in it's upright position so that the phosphors have a chance to resettle. I know some people don't believe this, but better safe than sorry. |

I brought a 32 inch tube TV home in a Tercel. It had the packaging and barely fit.
Recently I bought a 58 inch plasma and had wondered whether it would fit. The store delivered. It was UNBELIEVABLE how much bigger the box was than the TV inside. Possibly the TV would have fit on its own but I am not sure. I'd say to buy a friend a case of beer and borrow his minivan. Keep it in the case. |

Besides, usually by the time you have the television inside, out of the box, and connected to everything in your system it's been long enough that the set should be fine anyway. Not to mention that your SO will make you clean up the box before they let you turn it on ![]() |
