Default Upgrading home theatre questions

I'm a big movie and video game buff, and I'm looking for help trying to upgrade my system. I'm looking to adding a second sub to my system and just want help on going about it. Got and HTIB from Onkyo but about a year ago I upgraded my receiver to the Onkyo 604. What would be the easiest and most cost effective way to add that sub.

find a Y adapter cable (Wal-mart, <$5)to plug into the sub pre-out on the Onkyo then plug the two subs into the cable. Done. Simple. DId it on my system (Onkyo 605).

This article should answer all your questions:

http://www.audioholics.com/tweaks/ge...nnection-guide

The Y splitter they recommend is pretty expensive.

This one:

Plus any two of these cables:
http://www.monoprice.com/products/su...09&cp_id=10236

Will work fine!

Analog and monoprice is bad choice to save a buck, You are setting your self up for interference and lots of hum & hiss from common household magnetic and RF interference.

BlueJeans has a well-built, braid-and-foil shielded cable, about one foot long, and sells for $15.00. http://www.bluejeanscable.com/store/subwoofer/index.htm

Yep, go monoprice, as I got my Y-splitter from them for my 2 sub set-up. They are better than Walmart because they are shielded and protected better than the ones you'll get there. By the way, having 2 subs works well, but you'll have to play with the location of the 2 subs to get the best sound.

Gonna have to disagree with you here. The digital coaxial cables I got from monoprice work just fine, and are of great quality. Never a hum, hiss or otherwise. I'm currently using 2 of them.

This is in no way putting down BJC, as they also provide top quality cables.

Price doesn't determine quality. You can still get a great subwoofer cable for cheap. The monoprice y-splitters are cheap, quality and price wise. But their subwoofer cables are good quality. Yes there are better out there but the monoprice ones work just fine. I would go with a better Y-splitter though.

I recommend as your second sub and for your Y cable, Outlaw Audio! They make a very nice high quality Y cable and their subs are to me the best for anything in their price range as they sound as good or better than subs that cost thousands!
