This is just as basic I can get it, they are more advanced features the 607 has that the 606 does not.

I think it's still only 7.2... or even more technically 5.2. IIRC, when you use the secondary front channels, you can not use the rear surrounds, and the secondary front channels are not discrete channels.

what is the pricing on this unit? I see $599 on onkyo's site, but I know that is just MSRP.

probably start in the mid to high 400's and work its way down to the current low 400 price point just like the 606 did.

Actually, you can use the secondary front channels with the 7.2 set up. The secondary front channels are Zone 2. If you use 9.2 then you will just lose Zone 2. But you are correct that the secondary front channels are not discrete. They are "matrixed".
