Depeche Mode - Sounds of the Universe (CD+DVD; Deluxe Box Set) 5.1 mix? - Blu-ray Forum

As noted in this thread's title, these two versions of the new DM album include a DVD with a 5.1 surround sound mix of SOTU. Has anyone else heard if the 5.1 is in high resolution audio? home theatre audio codec? something else? Is it high res in one territory and not another?

more then likely not high res..just a dolby digital 5.1 or dts 5.1...doubt it is going to be lossless..

The new album is good..listend to it last night...

HOWEVER...what is weird about this release is that it is not going to be an SACD...PTA was released in Europe as an SACD (AS well as the Re Masters)..it was odd that PTA and the Re Masters were released on the SACD format in Europe..and here in the U.S they were released as non SACD..

I have my Pre Order in for the box set...

Different labels control their releases in Europe than America. The American record label, WEA (part of Warner), refuses to release anything on SACD, so they ended up being DVD-Audios in the U.S.

Yes, I prefer the SACDs and imported the DM remasters when released. Since SOTU's 5.1 mix is on a DVD I would assume that SACD would be out.

But it may be on DVD-audio!

Except I can't find any clear information that states otherwise, like the bands website.

well I wish it was released in EU via SACD..but I doubt that is the case...or..only time will tell...this album...I liked it..but not in my top 4 of favorite DM...that box set is awsome....I mean...5.1 mix, unreleased songs from SOTU...remixes..and demos from the past albums..that is a cool box set indeed...I hope this album is not the last one...cant believe it has been 4 years since PTA...

I believe that PTA was released in EU as a 2 disc set when it first came out...one disc being the SACD of PTA and the 2nd disc being the making of PTA and the 2 mixes of PTA (dolby digital and a dts) I however liked the SACD of PTA over the 5.1 mixes that were released...

Yes, I've preordered the box set as well. It does look awesome.

Since I have all of the other SACD re-issues, I will be deeply dissapointed if Sounds of the Universe is not available in an SACD.

There were no DVD-Audio releases of any Depeche Mode albums in North America, they were all DVD-Video with dts 24/96 and Dolby 5.1 mixes.

It's a shame if this isn't on SACD in EU, because the quality of the SACD mixes with Violator and Songs of Faith... was far better than the dts 24/96 mix. On the EU releases you can compare them.

So, I bought this new from Amazon for $35!

Sad we don't get an SACD version. The 5.1 DTS will have to suffice I suppose. But three CDs, DVD and all the other stuff was just too good to pass up!
