Default speaker placement

Ill be setting up my system next week. I was wondering if I could put the center and front speakers along the front of my tv. I heard somewhere that u can't put any speakers within 2 ft of ur tv or it will distort the picture...is this true??

That's only with speakers that aren't magnetically shielded and are placed next to old school CRT televisions.

It's only true if you have an old school CRT TV display.

Newer techs, like Plasma, LCD, or DLP are unaffected.
