Australia Blu-ray Recorders & PS3 - Australia

Hi,

Have been waiting now here in OZ for over a year for Sony to release some of the Blu-ray recorders but so far no luck - only decent one seems to be the Panasonic DMR-BW500; unfortunately it's only BD Profile 1.1 and not upgradeable to Profile 2.0 I've been told + I want a wifi enabled recorder as well (picky aren't I). In the interim waiting for Sony to do something, I've decided to buy an 80Gb PS3 just so I can play my few Blu-ray discs (I'm slowly buying more as decent films are released) & get a Blu-ray recorder once a decent one is released to the OZ market. I've got a Panasonic 250Gb recorder so that'll keep me going for recording TV programs. My questions are:
  1. Does anyone have any comment on this strategy?
  2. Is there anything else I should be considering?
  3. Are there any traps about the PS3 I need to be aware of?
  4. Any advice on the cheapest place to buy a PS3 - in Sydney or on the web?
Appreciate any input/advice.

Thx...

My only advice is to shop around.

When i got my tv/bd player i spent about a month looking around at various shops and online stores.. Best place I found was JB Hi-Fi.. even then i found a better deal on an online store.. after some talk JB matched the deal and beat it.

Always pays to go in store and bargain face to face.
