Default TV Wall Mounts

I have a 50 inch Plasma I want to mount on the wall but I have 2 problems and hopefully I can get some help. I would like to mount the plasma over a fireplace but are there big problems with heat coming from fireplace? Also if I cant mount the plasma over the fire place the only other place is in a corner but I cant find any mounts for corner placement. I Do not want to spend alot of money on a mount so help me out if possible.

it would imagine it can be done, but theres no standard yes or no to this. would i? no. but thats me. heres some good tips if your contempt on putting it there...

-use a thermometer several places over your fireplace after building a roaring fire to measure the temperature. If you get readings above 100 degrees, that area is too hot to install your TV there.

-If The Area Above Your Fireplace Is Recessed, measure the temperature inside the recess while a fire is blazing. It’s very easy for the temperature of the hollow area to rise above the recommended operating temperature of your TV. If it does, do not install the TV above that fireplace.

There are a number of reasons to avoid putting the television over a fireplace, including the problem of it being a bad viewing angle, for the most part.

A new move in the stands being sold are floor stands for plasmas and LCD's - that may be an option. Those can go in a corner.

If it isn't, see the previous post about how to check the environmental challenge of fireplace placement.

Sanus does indeed make a very good cantilever mount - but it is not cheap.
Here's a bit more economical, yet still heavy duty model from Cheetah that gets good reviews on Amazon --

If you are concerned about heat over a fireplace - don't do it - especially if it is a real wood burning fireplace as soot is also an issue.

A fully articulating mount might be what you are looking for. Try this place Mounts Direct and look at what they have to offer.

I have this model for my 50" plasma. It might not be the cheapest mount out there but at least I don't have to worry about having my TV come crashing down. Personally I don't think it's that expensive but some people do.

Hope this helps out !!!
