Question Lg Ggw-h20l

Hi every one.

I'm new on here so I hope you guy's will help me.

I have a PC with the above mentioned BD drive. The problem is that I can't seem to play any Fox films.
I have tried both Die Hard 4 and Fantastic 4 (Rise Of The Silver Surfer) and both give me the message that I don't have the latest firmware...
I have YL02 on my pc and as far as I can see this is the latest version and LG don't have anything else on their website...

Anyone had the same problem?? Anyone been able to resolve it??

Cheers

Try updating your Cyberlink software. A lot of times that's the culprit.

edit:
realized you have the writer, but here was my problem with those movies:

I couldn't play those movies in PDVD, I had to use WinDVD for both of those films, but I never got an error message, it would just freeze pdvd at the menu loading screen.

I think I will give WinDVD a try.

the trial of windvd doesn't allow bd playback, but you have 30 days to refund if you feel the software wasn't to your liking, so that's good at least, and they are prompt in responding to questions and problems

Well I tried WInDVD and Nero 8 and still no luck. And I now even have firmware YL03.
I only ever have this problem with 20th fox films....

SO far only Die Hard 4.0 (still haven't seen this one...) and Fantastic 4 the silver surfer.

Default producing a blu-ray disc

Not really a reply, more a question.
I have an LG Blu-ray writer for my computer which I was expecting to use with Pinnacle 11 ultimate, but found that Pinnacle do not yey support Blu-ray.
I now have Nero 8 with Blu-ray plugin, but still have been unable to produce a video which plays in a blu-ray player.
In Nero I imported a video direct from my HD camcorder, put in a title and made the disc onto a BD-RE disc - it plays on my computer via Cyberlink as a blu-ray disc but not on the Blu-ray player.
During the various steps I have taken I saw a "make BDAV" disc? This I havent yet tried so far.
My writer is an LG GGC-H20L and the player is a SHARP DBHP20S.
There is one more method I have to try and that is to import the video direct in Cyberlink ans then follow the instructions to make a disc.
If anyone has a sure fire method of producing a playable disc with the same equipment I have, or even different, I would be please to hear from them
regards
Ian
p.s. the Cyberlink advisor tell me that I have all the required features to use/make Blu-ray and HD disc's on my computer

I thought the GGC-H20L didn't burn blu-ray. I was under the impression that it burns everything else but only does HDDVD( ) and Blu-Ray playback.

Angry LG GGW-H20L + Sharp player BD-HP20S

Hi iangt9,

have recently purchased the equipment you are also using, but have serious problems to get my blu-ray playing on bd-hp20s. LG burns blu-rays only in bdav format which is not playable on sharp player "disk not compatible". burned then with studio 12 pinnacle a bdmv and an avchd-format - same result on sharp player. Blu-ray disk I am using is Verbatim BD-RE format 2.1, which acc. to sharp can be used and should be playable.
have you made any progress on this issue?
would be delighted if you could give me hits or ideas to resolve my problem.

regards

Does your player support AVCHD? If not you may have problems using those authoring programs.

Are you authoring your own videos with menus? If not there is a simple solution. If you have one or several video streams that you would like to make to a Blu-ray compatible structure use tsMuxeR (can be found here) to mux to a Blu-ray structure, then use your bundled software, Cyberlink I believe, or IMGBurn (freeware) to burn to your Verb BD-RE. You must burn using the UDF 2.5 file system though or else your movie will not play, you need to manually change this in both apps. If you didn't use the UDF 2.5 option in the first place I'd try that first then follow my suggestions.
