Default Why is Profile 1.1/2.0 taken so long to implement ?

If your sense of competing is that we have to give away Blu-ray players and movies at prices equal to, or less than another company who is taking a scorched earth tact, that's just not going to happen. Yes, Blu-ray is in this to win, but there has to be some kind of business left, when the battle is won.
First off let me say I want Blu-ray to win. I believe in the superior specs of Blu-ray. I want the highest quality video and audio and believe Blu-ray is better at this than HD-DVD. I have been following this format war for the last year and half, but have yet to take the plunge. One of the main reasons being the profile issue.

Why has it taken the BDA group 17 months after initially releasing players to release the first profile 1.1 player (Panasonic BD-30)? Why is there also 2.0, why not make everything standard(Bonusview/BD-Live) in the first go around.

If Blu-ray is in it to win, why would they ask their customer base to replace their players to play Bonusview 1.1 content on new discs(Sunshine, REvil:Extinction, War etc.) released in 2008 and beyond because existing players (PS3 excluded) cannot play them. Then do it again for 2.0 BD-Live titles like Disney's National Treasure and Sleeping Beauty.

This is the only thing that has bugged me about Blu-ray. I feel like the BDA is taking their customers on a ride. Want this feature, buy a new player.

I feel for J6P if they bought their players now and next year can't play 1.1 or 2.0 content. Just because they didn't know about all these profile issues. The average consumer shouldn't have to know about this nor do they care.

Can anybody (especially insiders) please provide some insight into this.
