Someone needs to tell the people that release concerts in Blu Ray that our we want 1080P.
I'm sick and tired of new stuff coming out in 1080i!! 1080i looks ok, but it's not the reason I've spent so much money on my home theater. I demand the very best out of Blu releases! If the old Batman that was filmed in the 60's can look good, why can't they redo concerts in 1080P?? I'm never buying a 1080i Blu Ray again!! If you can't release a movie in 1080P, you don't deserve the right to put it on a Blu disk. Save that crap for HD DVD! Am I missing something?? ![]() |

Yup, if they were shot with digital cameras it is possible that they were recorded in 1080i. A lot of these were shot with an intention of being brought to TV like on PBS where they have all those operas and theatres performances that are shot and presented in HDTV standard 1080i.

and if you have a 1080p display it's going to take the 1080i input and make it progressive isn't it?

Anytime you convert something, isn't their a loss? Even if it's small? 1080i looks good, but it's lacking the cripsness of 1080P. I have 20/20 vision. ![]() |

I understand your point, but don't put it on a Blu disk if it's not 1080P. When Batman was filmed in the 60's, they never dreamed of standard DVD let alone Blu ray. I guess all I'm asking is for them to properly encode them in VC1 or MEPG4. |

when they shoot them with a digital camera, they are shooting with a camera that is doing 1080i max, no going up from there. batman was shot on film, which has a resolution well above 1080p, so they can make a 1080p transfer out of that, they can't off shooting the concerts in digital with a 1080i camera. what you should be asking them for, is to start shooting the concerts in 1080p and not 1080i. And why not put 1080i on a blu-ray disc if thats the best you can do, it still looks a million times better than a DVD. Its not like they don't clearly state its only 1080i on the package. |
