Some may place them close to the television due to lack of space, others may place them further out due to personal preference, and not take into account the peaks and nulls..... but my room, and room treatments always dictate my speaker placement. If it sounded better to put my speakers in the corner, all stacked up, that's what I'd do ![]() If you can get someone to run an accoustical analysis on your room, I'd highly recommend it. |

Rule of thumb < unless you have space limitations > is to have your speakers 6-10 feet apart and toed slightly towards the listener to maximize the sound stage and enhance the "sweet spot"
A good way to test if your speakers are set correctly is to play some music you're familiar with in 2 channel mode. When the vocals seem to come from your center channel and it sounds balanced overall you have succeeded. The theory behind it is that when music is recorded for you to listen to it's not all compressed into 2 speakers in front of you 3 feet apart, it's recorded to replicate as best as possible the experience of sitting in front of a live performance. Hope that makes sense, I'm not very good at explaining things. |

I also got the same problem as well. I just got my new Samsung and it's right in the middle on my wall and there's space on both sides of my 40" TV for wall speakers, but I just don't know if I should and if it would look good to even have them on the sides.

Unless you sit really far back, a good starting point is to make an equilateral triangle with yourself, and both of your speakers. Then slightly toe them in, and pull them off of the wall a little bit to play with the bass. Make your adjustments from there. You will be surprised at how much just moving your speakers will affect the sound.

Spacing between the front speakers are detrimental in IMAGING and soundstaging in HT and most especially with 2 channel audio. Some speaker manufacturers actually require at least 2 meter separation between the fronts for best results.

+1, i moved my seating area back, i find that the further away from the speakers, the more blended/musical the sound is
i have my speakers over a foot and half out from the wall ( rear firing ports on L/R and sub is dual rear firing) ,L/R are angled in |
