Unless you sit really far back, a good starting point is to make an equilateral triangle with yourself, and both of your speakers. Then slightly toe them in, and pull them off of the wall a little bit to play with the bass. Make your adjustments from there. You will be surprised at how much just moving your speakers will affect the sound.
