I've always had this one DualShock 3 that can never wants to stay synced to the PS3 permanently.
Yes, the battery is charged. Here's what happens: I have to connect the controller to the system via a USB cable, as if you're syncing it up for the first time, then I have to press the On/Off button on the system to power it up. I can press the PS button on the controller and it'll sync up. From there I can remove the USB cable and the controller will stay connected. While the console remains on, I can turn off the controller and turn it back on (with successful connectivity) wirelessly but as soon as the system is turned off, I have to repeat the whole process. This is only happening with one of my controllers. Could it be defective? It has been doing that since I first got it, brand new. Thanks ![]() |

Press the reset button. Connect the USB wire. Resync.

Does this occur with any other peripherals? I had the same issue with all of my controllers and BD remote. It still happends speriodically. No real fix. The geniuses at SCEA tech support are pretty useless in this matter. Goodluck with a permanent fix though

Nope, just this one DS3. Well, I don't think it's worth selling it because 1. I can't. Got no receipt/package and 2. I'm getting used to having the USB cable out lol, it would just be a little simpler to have it permanently synced. |

Sounds like this thing has a faulty BT chip that remembers its assigned channel. Well if you can't fix it (maybe there are cheap off-the-shelf mod boards you can purchase), you could get a new one and keep this one for when you need an extra controller.

UPDATE
---------- I still have the controller. I went out today and bought another one, brand new. I'm having the same issue with the new one so I'm getting the feeling it has something to do with the Playstation itself. It's like it doesn't keep the signals recognized when the system is turned off. It won't pick up the controller's signal when the PS button is pressed. At least I'm pretty certain about that. Could it have something to do with the latest firmware update? I've never had a problem in the past with FW updates but I wouldn't be surprised if the latest one caused this connection issue. Any other ideas? |
