PS2 game online using PS3 - Blu-ray Forum

My wife recently bought a PS2 game that is designed to run solo, and online. We figured that with the existing PS3 internet access, we should be able to go online with it using a PS2 game. But whenever we try, nothing happens. Says it can not find the software or something like that.
Is there some way to get my PS3 to allow a PS2 game to go online?

Which game? And it would help to know the exact error message.

You need to go to the PlayStation Store and download the free PS2 System Data settings. That will allow your PS2 games like FFXI Online to connect.

Note that some PS2 games depended on servers which have since been taken down (case in point, Electronic Arts just recently shut down some servers for games like Madden '06).

Thanks for the info.
It is actually a game called Mortal Kombat Armageddon.
I d/led that file and it seems to make it go farther, and actually try to set up an internet connection but it never seems to actually connect. My PS3 is always working fine online but just not so well with PS2 games... I'll try again later and see what I can figure out.

FWI, i got Area 51 for the PS2 to go online on my PS3 without any additional downloads or mods. It went to the PS2 interface for set up though.

I found 3 people online playing it!

I'm playing the SOCOMs online using the PS3 with no problems. Most recently SOCOM II and there are still about 2,000 plus people on! Amazing

That game has been out for quite awhile (I'm thinking 3-4 years now) and they may no longer support it with a server online. I hope I'm wrong, but that could be your trouble.
