I attempted to search but came up with nothing useful. A friend of mine has 2 PS3's connected in his home. One is hard wired and the other is connected wirelessly to his Verizon Fios issued wireless router. He and his bro-in-law attempted to play COD5 online from each PS3. Yes, they used two separate legit copies. While they could both join and play in separate matches, they could not be in the same team death match game. they are using different users on each PS3. Any advice or eplainations would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Tom Last edited by Basshead; 01-09-2009 at 11:43 PM. |

I don't think that would be the problem, though. If they're both able to connect to the network at the same time, it shouldn't be an issue. I think they just need to be in the same party.

The hardwired PS3 i know for sure is set to static IP with DMZ activated on that IP. The wireless one, I'm not sure. They tried to invite each other. The invited person would not be able to get past "downloading game settings." They also had an outside friend invite them both, whomever joined first got in, then the other would hang up at "downloading game settings."

To the OP, chances are you having a port issue. It happens quite a bit with certain muliplayer games, I have seen it many times...especially during LAN nights. If you have static IP addresses for your PS3s, you should be able to set port forwarding rules for each one, that will allow you to have both connected at the same time. In most cases, with multiplayer games, you are looking to have open ports on 5200-5600 for both TCP and UDP. If need be, assign a range to each PS3 (ex. PS3-1 ports 5200-5400, PS3-2 ports 5401-5600).
Hope that helps. Guido |

I have a PS3 and my roommate has a PS3. We ran into a problem where we could play separate games at the same time but if we attempted to play a game together with friends then 1 of us would lag very bad or could not connect to the game( stuck on the setting up screen). It was weird though that we couldplay an online game just not together.
we have been able to play in the same game but that was awhile back. I think our internet connection has an issue somewhere and is losing signal strength. I have seen 6 PS3 connected wireless and no lag., damn that was fun. |

My brother and I we both play COD:WAW with two PS3s in the same house using the same router (Netgear) and we haven't had any kind of trouble whatsoever. Mine is hardwired and his is wireless and when he plays alone, sometimes it gives him an error notice and says he has been disconnected from the access point. That is weird because the router is in my room right across from his. But other than that no trouble.

^They can play at the same time, just not able to join the same party/Team Death match game. Hey quidosarduche, why does that name sound so familiar, was it an SNL character? Since you are in S.D., you wanna go to Temecula and make it work? HAHA, thanks for the help everyone

Let me give some more, this time correct, information. The wired computer does not have DMZ enabled or port forwarding while the wireless does have DMZ enabled. They get to the point where they are joining the game. One makes it through to the game while the other gets stuck and says host timed out, or something to that affect. Does the same info still apply. My friend is confident it is not a port forwarding issue

that whole cant connect sh!t and downloading game settings is sadly typical bs from COD games (4,5) ... It did this alot to me in the first weeks of owning the game but hasnt been that bad since ... dont know, may be something that will go away ... usually tho if u get that downloading game settings, one guy can back out like hes going to play single player then hop back in mp and get the invite.
