Default 2 PS3's online at same house?

Hey out there,

Question for all of you, I have heard in the past that you can't play online games with 2 playstations under one roof due to the IP addresses being the same? Me and a buddy are planning on getting together and I am going to bring my ps3 to his house to play COD and Warhawk online together. Does anyone know if what I heard is true or if this is possible?

It's absolutely possible. It's no different than 2 PCs or any other internet devices being online at the same time. Of course, you'll need a router or some sort.

Would you not be able to lan them?

Lots of games have a option to play on a lan, and if thats a option
it would then be possible correct.

Sounds like some people who drink kool aid came up with that..

Some people may think it isn't possible because often when the same household has multiple PS3s they might just use the same PSN account out of convenience. If so, when the other PS3 signs in it bumps the other(s). If you want to log on simultaneously then you need unique PSN accounts. Clearly this is not an issue for you & your friend.

we have a DSL account under our regular phone number and an additional "dry loop" account that is DSL only...

that would be your best bet...

The only issue you would have is if you had to forward any ports to get your games to work properly. Since you can't forward a port to a range of IP addresses, you'd have issues.

I think i should be fine. We have seperate PSN accounts and whatnot. Should just have to plug into the router and be fine.

I have 2 PS3s at my house and they both work great. I can play both on the internet at the same time.

It's really fun though when you can play on the Lan/networked together. Not all games have this option. My favorite games (the Timesplitters Series) allows you to play networked without the lag time of the internet.

Same. I'm weighing getting a 40gb now, or waiting for another 80gb come June when MGS is bundled. This info helped!
