Default current movies question

Ok, so I've had my Ps3 about 3 wks and I'm loving it!

I was looking at movies that my family and I have watched lately and ones we're looking forward to and would like to own.

What are your thoughts on these and if they'll be or eventually be on Blu-Ray. I've put my guesses in parenthesis.

3:10 to Yuma: Lionsgate (BD)
Stardust: Paramount (HD)
The Bourne Ultimatum: Universal (HD)
Transformers: Paramount (HD)
HP: Order of the Phoenix: WB (BD)
Mr. Brooks: MGM (BD)
Oceans 13: WB (BD)
1408: MGM (BD)
Live Free or Die Hard: Fox (BD)
Spidey 3: Columbia (BD)
PotC 3: Disney (BD)

Upcoming:

The Seeker: Fox (BD)
Elizabeth, The Golden Age: Universal (HD)
Sleuth: Sony (BD)
American Gangster: Universal (HD)
Beowulf: Paramount (HD)
August Rush: WB (BD)
The Golden Compass: New Line (BD)
National Treasure 2 : Disney (BD)

It looks like some of the ones I want the most are going to be HD-DUD.

Although it appears a few might end up being released in the UK in BD.

Hmm, maybe you misunderstood me. I don't want anything on HD-DuD

I'm just trying to find out thoughts on the movies I listed and my guesses on their release type.

You guys all know a TON more than me, I was hoping I might be wrong in some cases on this list.

I am looking forward to 3:10 to Yuma on Blu-Ray, but it is too early to decide.

Here you go. All the 'next year' ones aren't for certain but it is a pretty safe bet.

As for all of the HD DVD only releases, give it a year.

Thanks Lynx.

I've also been reading up on ordering titles from sendit or other UK type places. Hoping some of the others will be region free.

bdrex28, 1408 is distributed by Weinstein on home video I believe. The theatrical distribution was MGM.

Beowulf has mixed distribution rights. Paramount may release it in the US but in South East Asia at least, it's Warner.

Elizabeth: The Golden Age are pretty much Universal/UIP release, except for Europe (sans UK). That falls under Studio Canal, which is going neutral. In Japan, it's by Toho-Towa.

American Ganster is also Universal/UIP, but in Japan it's Toho-Towa again. Plus Ridley Scott's film so far have been or will be in BD or both formats.

The Bourne Ultimatum is also Toho-Towa in Japan.

So, that sounds like we may be able to get Beowulf, Elizabeth, American Gangster and Bourne right?

Like I said I'm still learning.

If you buy this releases out of UK I'm guessing they have an English track, but if you get them from Asia do they? Or are they subtitled?

Most Asian countries do not do dubs, except for animation. They are usually subtitled. Japanese releases have Japanese menu screens.

Well, it would appear it's UK or USA purchasing for me then.

Japanese menu screens are not a big deal. Once you get the movie or extras playing, it's done with. The subs are not burned into the video either.

The thread was created because you mentioned that some movies you want may be in HD-DVD format in the US. That's why we mention other regions that may have the movie in BD. So Japan/South East Asia is the solution. Some UK discs won't play in US players because of region coding.
