Default Samsung's nonsense just doesn't end...

As I had stated in a previous post, my BD-P1200 ate my update disc before last Thanksgiving, and refused to spit it out. I sent the player to Samsung's main repair center just after Turkey Day, and they spent the next two months deciding when they were going to repair it. Samsung persuaded me to be patient, since my returned unit would contain the very latest firmware updates.

I actually got it back today, January 28.

2008.

It didn't work. At all. It didn't play 'Mr. Brooks', nor any of the Disney 'Pirates' movies, nor the 'Pixar' shorts', nor ANY OTHER STINKING, BLEEPING @#%* blu-ray movie. Nor any stinking, bleeping @#%* standard-def DVD movie.

It is most unfortunate for me that the Oscar nominations have already been handed out, because I would have been nominated for Best Actor in the Most Patient Customer with Samsung's Goofball Inept Customer Service category.

Of course, I called Samsung back, and very politely asked them to give me either a refund or a new player. The lady I spoke with told me she would try to authorize the return of the unit for a new(?) 1400, but couldn't guarantee anything. Samsung will call me next Tuesday.

If I get the 1400, will that be any better? Will Samsung listen to me when I ask them to put the latest firmware update in the player before they send it to me in the summer of 2010? Will cows someday learn how to fly?

Please coddle me. I need nurturing.
