I think 3D versions of the other two prequels were made but ultimately were never released.

Yeah they exist but their releases got canned. IIRC Clones and Sith 3D have both screened at small events but I can't remember what those were.

Would love to get Phantom Menace 3D on BD. If I have to live with that DNR, might as well get some 3D for it.

I heard it was one of the worst conversions out there.

And that's the frustrating thing with fans completely dismissing E1 - there is a ton of good stuff in there, way more than just the standard go-to of "The pod race and the duel" that most people cite. The costume designs are amazing, the set design (and yes there are a ton of actual, physical sets augmented with greenscreen) look great, the score is some of Williams' best work, the sound design, and the huge amount of world building that we got.

And then yes - the pod race and the saber fight.

Perfect? Naw, but the other end of the spectrum doesn't apply either.

You know, I did learn that at one point but totally forgot! Still, it's by far the least altered of the films, but is a good example of how George was always tinkering with each release.

I haven't seen it, but somebody mentioned you could literally put the Blu-Ray in, turn on your TV's 3D simulated mode, and it would pretty much be the same. That could be an exaggeration, but doesn't sound like anything to get excited about, and I'm generally hard-pressed to accept older films that were not shot with 3D in mind anyway.

Episode 1 was converted to 3D. It was the only one to get a theatrical release. It made quite a bit of money and everyone that went said it was a decent conversion.

Episodes 2 and 3 had their conversions finished but we're never shown theatrically. They were however, shown at Celebration.

I can't remember if both were at the same one, or if they were one a year.

The pod race in TPM is too long imo. Since the theatrical release had a shorter pod race sequence, that’s the version I’d prefer to watch.

While movies are a collection of many different artistic endeavors it is very hard to dismiss poor writing, and Episode 1 is nothing but poorly written.

Episode I is Nabokov level writing compared to Episode II.

It's interesting you mention that-- because I definitely agree with what you're saying here in regards to the production of the film. Art department and costume designs? Fantastic. John Williams score? Phenomenal. And Episode I had a great blend of practical effects/sets with CGI, much more so than the other two.

And yet..., to me, it's got all the pieces of a wonderful film, and it shockingly ended up being such a bad film (IMO of course). To me it was a lesson that a film can have top-notch production, but the story is still the most important part and without it, the most beautiful set designs, costumes, and cinematography won't keep the experience from feeling dull and hollow.

Is there a listing of the audio tracks from 4K77 somewhere? All I see are a ton of different "English" options that are mostly the same...

I think people were reacting to Disney Star Wars just the right amount. The backlash we've been seeing most of this time is against the damage control more than anything.

Turns out that if you make a bad movie, people don't like being told it's their fault rather than the movie's if they don't like it.

Lol no way, dude.

No one has to like every movie, but these people that just go on and on and on and on and on and on about how much they hate it are out of their minds.

Because there's no shortage of stupid crap being said by the filmmakers themselves to react to. Actually the filmmakers themselves have said comparatively little compared to the media which has provided no shortage of dumb, ill-informed articles.

I know Chuck Wendig has nothing to do with the movies themselves, but I feel his behaviour is only a tip of the iceberg and his firing is too little too late.

I still stand by what I said. These specific haters are not right in the hate.

It takes a special breed of ******* to hate a movie’s character so much that you bully the actor (who’s just doing their job) off of social media or (in Phantom Menace’s case) to almost wanting to be dead.

If you don’t think that’s ****ed up and not a bit much then... I don’t even have any words.
