Binge watched it all in one sitting , BluRay's mastered great no complaints .
Much nicer than streaming even if it was 4K .
Love the package design , funny about how everyone griped about this would never come out and then how this was somehow a fake release and now crying over a really cool package .
Everyone just chill and enjoy being able to own a physical copy when everything is going to downloads and streaming ... just mt 2 cents .

Just now popped this in. And, yes, terrible decision to include unskippable previews. Maybe it's to give that retro feel of not being able to rewind or fast forward your VHS in the crappy VCR without it ripping the tape out

  • Just to get it right: The trailers only play once before you're taken to the disc menu, not after/before every episode on disc one, right?
  • What show is the second trailer for and what's the succession (i.e. Stranger Things Season 2 first, then the other one, or the other way around)?

Thank you!

I think you can chalk it up to it being Netflix's first release, and they don't know the ins and outs of encoding, or providing proper instructions to the authoring house.

Similar faux pas incidents can be found with other studios/labels with their first releases too. I remember Twilight Time's releases had terrible chapter breaks, like set at ever 10 min interval or something, but they eventually they figured it out.

1. It’s a hybrid of the CC trailer footage and the music from trailer 2.
2. Plays only once.
3. Other trailer is for Marvel’s Defenders. ST trailer plays first.

Personally, I find the griping over this a little on the extreme side. Yes, it was a stupid decision. But, as others have pointed out, you can get around them if you put Disc 2 in first and select an episode from Disc 1. Or, you know, just put the disc in your player, turn off the sound, and come back in five minutes. Shrug. Really not the end of the world.

Yup. The Season 2 trailer fades out too fast and far as the disc architecture goes, it's a single video file combined together with the Defenders trailer. Normally, multiple items are separate videos and then strung together by a playlist.

Would have been nice if all the Season 1 and 2 trailers had been on the set. That would have been the easiest way to add at least a little something as bonus features that would take very little space (thus not compromising the episodes), and then they wouldn't have had to make them unskippable before getting to a menu.

I'm not so sure the non-skippable nature of the trailers was an accident. It's called having what they think is a captive audience for two popular shows. Netflix is more interested in getting butts to their streaming service, not to buy discs. Notice, they were for upcoming streamed seasons and not what was coming next to Blu-ray from Netflix Studios.

It's still what you would call a dick move.

So we finished the first season just a few minutes ago and I really don't see a need for there to be a second season. This was just perfect. There is no way another season is going to be on par with this one. I loved every minute of it. The bits in the alternate world were down right phenomenal and the payoff to the monster was well worth the build up. Just absolutely wonderful. This may be Netflix's best show ever.

Buuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuut, since there IS a second season, HOLY CRAP I NEED TO SEE IT NOW!!! IN FACT, FORGET STREAMING IT NETFLIX, JUST GIVE IT TO ME ON BLU-RAY RIGHT NOW!!!! I WILL BUY IT WITHOUT WAITING A SECOND!!!!!!!!!

It looks like it printed the entire image but it just isn't long enough horizontally. I left the border on the backside on my second printing just to fill the gap.
Well, looking closer it didn't print the black portion on the backside after the red border.

(To see what it's like to browse this title within My Movies for WMC7 see my post here. To view the online version of this title from my DVD Profiler based website click here.)

Of course scanning the retail packaging was an option when going to catalog this. That being said, while I love the retro style VHS packaging I still wanted actual Blu-ray cover art representing this title in the digital realm. As such, I decided to take matters into my own hands and see what I could come up with. Pretty pleased with the end result I must say considering I'm not a graphic artist and have only a very basic skill set when it comes to Photoshop.

So yeah, finally getting around to posting download links. Preview images provided below. If you like what you see just click on the given preview image to download the full size (3173x1762) cover art suitable for printing. Quick breakdown for you. There are two sets of covers. (Couldn't decide which ones to post, so I posted them all!) The front portion for each is the same, because that poster is awesome! It should have been used on the retail packaging, but I digress. The back portion varies slightly for each. The first set of covers offer more breathing room on the back portion at the very bottom basically. Not as crowded. The second set of covers is identical to the first, but with additional logos and specs added. Makes it a bit more crowded, but still works I think. In any event, pick your poison and enjoy!

"Stranger Things" Blu-ray Cover Art (1A, 1B, 1C, 1D)

1A (Back portion intended to precisely mirror the retail packaging, barcode and all.)

1B (Overview and larger collage of images only on back portion.)

1C (Overview and collage orientation reversed on back portion.)

1D (Alternate version of 1A with release specifications included.)

"Stranger Things" Blu-ray Cover Art (2A, 2B, 2C, 2D)

2A (Same as 1A with additional logos and specs added at the very bottom.)

2B (Same as 1B with additional logos and specs added at the very bottom.)

2C (Same as 1C with additional logos and specs added at the very bottom.)

2D (Same as 1D with additional logos and specs added at the very bottom.)
I want to say THANK YOU to this person who created this artwork for us. I just received my TARGET VHS box and while I ABSOLUTELY love it, and will display it among my other fun things, I desire a normal bluray case for my actual shelf. So, tomorrow, I will take image 1C to a shop and have it printed out and fit it to a bluray case.

THANK YOU!

Is Super 8 pretty similar to this show? So many people recommend it to me, and I've somehow never seen it all the way through. Trailers look pretty cool, don't know how this one got past me all this time.

I haven’t read through the back posts but Microsoft released an update that fixed the playback issue. I can now watch this finally on Blu on my Xbox One.

So does anyone wanna talk about the actual show or the quality of the blu ray? I don’t know why I waited so long to finally watch it & I have no regrets deciding to purchase this for my collection. The picture quality is fantastic & I finished it in 2 days. I’m super excited that season 2 is already gonna stream this Friday.

On a side note I’m honestly surprised the mods here allowed nearly 50 pages of people complaining about 2 small previews.

The packaging is pretty cool. I only wish it was about 1/4" shorter since it doesn't fit on my shelf where every other standard release is. I'm really disappointed that there are no BTS or special features. You know there will be another release with tons of extras, which will inevitably make us all double-dip when the non Target exclusive is released.

Yes, although I would say Super 8 isn't as good IMO.
