If they ever decide to remake the PT, then they should also remake the OT and fix the story/narrative all at once so that they flow together better!

We'll probably get a reboot in a couple of decades. Can't wait!

The PT shows Dooku and Grevious doing much more to hurt the Jedi than Anakin did.
As Kenobi says in ANH, "A young Jedi named Darth Vader, who was a pupil of mine until he turned to evil, helped the empire hunt down and destroy the Jedi knights."

There's no contradiction here.

Except he wasn't a young Jedi named Darth Vader, he was a Sith named Darth Vader who murdered a bunch of children.

Best thing to do is don't bother ever watching the prequels again and use your imagination as to what actually happened before Anakin became Vader. It's much better that way!!!

I agree.
The value of the original trilogy, except for the directing, technical achievements, score etc. etc., lies in the mystery too.
Now, with every new film/series/cartoon etc. that mystery is gone forever!

If only they had let the original trilogy alone and never released anything else ever!
Those films would be a LEGEND! Much more than they are now..

Imagine if the same had been done for E.T. A series of new films, prequels, sequels, spin-offs etc. explaining everything there is to know about E.T.!

Ins't E.T. supposed to the the sequel for Close Encounters? Steven Spielberg said "What would happen if the aliens accidentally left one behind. That's one of the ideas I had for E.T."

No, E.T. (and Poltergeist) evolved out of a proposed, thematically darker followup (but not a sequel) to Close Encounters called Night Skies.

But Star Wars was always designed to be a big series from the beginning. The original film was just a chapter in a long series ala Flash Gordon serials hence why the Episode IV was added after it was a big success. George Lucas was talking prequels, sequels and spin-offs way back in 1978.

Quote:
As I was writing, I came up with some ideas for a film about robots, with no humans in it. When I got to working on the Wookiee, I thought of a film just about Wookiees, nothing else. So, for a time, I had a couple of odd movies with just those characters. Then, I had the other films, which were essentially split into three parts each, two trilogies. When the smoke cleared, I said, 'This is really great. I'll do another trilogy that takes place after this.' I had three trilogies of nine films, and then another couple of odd films. Essentially, there were twelve films.

I'd settle for the reinsertion of Luke's "You're lucky you don't taste that good" to R2 in Empire (best line in everything lucky to be called Star Wars) and the deletion of Vader's "NOOO" in Jedi. I can live with most of the changes, even Greedo getting a shot in, but that No line bugs me. (I also hate the Jabba scene in Hope and any shot that got a zoom added to it.)

On several sites I read, they said the SE negative can be used as the pieces of negative that weren't used should still be in storage. According to these sources, they just scan all the film (hopefully and likely something more future proof than 1080p) and edit everything back into an OOT. I'll trust Disney to follow a color print for these when color timing comes up due to its restoration history.

However, we fans can't nitpick if some of the few good changes are lost. I love New Hope but the lightsabers were still inconsistent before 97, 04, and 11. Disney may do some fixes, may redo blue screen composites and wipes to fix those drops in quality, but those I be willing to forgo for a restored OOT where the picture will still look good, Han shoots first, the Emperor and Luke are the only ones talking during the Emperor's last scene, and Jabba only appears before Return of the Jedi if you watch the films in order and include the prequels.

The upgraded audio, special effects and whatnot, those films are still in there, there are just upgraded options to those films.

To those who hate on the prequels, while they will never be better than the original trilogy, I do still enjoy them, because they fill in the missing gap of the story for the origin of Darth Vader, how the Jedi Knights were annihilated, and how Palpatine became the emperor. Believe it or not, but all six films tell one complete story.

The only thing that's missing from the original trilogy is the 'Han Shot First' scene and my wisdh that Lucas would include the original Biggs and Luke Tatooine scene that was cut from the first film.
That is true, all of it. I may gripe about some of the changes but I'll be darned if that stops me from enjoying them. Just grit through the changes and boom, still got Luke, Leia, Han and the others being awesome.

I know that doesn't work for everyone, but it helps me until the OOT comes out, whenever that is.

Night Skies? Don't you mean "Dark Skies", that TV series from the late 90's that starred Eric Close and Megan Ward?

In my personal canon ET was totally phoning home to Melmac and hearing a hearty response of "HA! No problem!"

Concerning your first paragraph that i quoted:
I think I had seen this article here. Anyway, here is an important extract:

Quote:
Then, when Lucas himself (and Lucasfilm reps) repeatedly suggested in 2006 that the original, unaltered films could never again be released in high quality because they “no longer existed”, we called BS straight away. No less an authority than Robert A. Harris – our longtime friend, film preservation expert, and former Bits contributor – confirmed for us that not only did the original elements still exist and that the original theatrical versions could certainly be restored (at worst case high quality prints remain preserved in archives around the world), it could be done relatively easily compared to other projects, and for a modest sum. All that would be required is the financial investment and the will to do so. Robert would know, of course – he’s restored the Godfather films and Lawrence of Arabia among many other beloved cinema classics. So the notion that the original films “no longer exist” is simply nonsense.
http://www.thedigitalbits.com/column...ts/051914_0010

about your 2nd paragraph:
We already have 553 different versions of Star Wars.
The only ones missing are the ORIGINAL UNALTERED ones!!
So, any change at all (even in the smallest detail) is unacceptable by me!
We are not asking for half-measures here.
Release the originals, or don't release anything at all please!
