Yes, but that's the Special Editions again.

Unless you mean the Japanese box, which used late 80's transfers with traveling mattes and all sorts of other weird aspect ratio issues.

That Definitive CAV box set was the best. Well, so long as you bought a later pressing.

My favorite SW box set (in terms of packaging) is probably the 1995 Japanese CLV "Collector's Set" (their counterpart to the US "Faces" release) due to its simplicity. Another plus is that all 3 films got nice-looking jacket art that never made it Stateside...

That, and it came with a little something-something that had largely disappeared down the Lucasfilm Memory Hole™ until Disney bought them out...

True, but the Japanese LD doesn't suffer from PAL speed-up like the Executor set does...

They actually pitch-corrected the audio on the previous remastered VHS PAL tapes, I can't remember if they did it with the 1996 'THX' versions though (which are what's in the Executor set). But speed up doesn't bother me in a documentary nearly as much on a main movie.

Yeah, that one and the Billy Dee Williams interview were terrible.

Yeah the Billy Dee one was like talking to a wall. He was very serious the whole time and really didn't seem like he wanted to be there at all.

Haha!! It's not as if NTSC is without its own weirdnesses! ;-)

But yeah, the speed-up (in the audio more than the video) was what, more than anything, convinced me to move up to BD.

The Star Wars scores sound really weird with PAL speed up.

At the very least, Lucas could have had the ghost start out as old Anakin and then morph into young pre-Vader Anakin. And Hayden could have cracked a smile.

You would probably have that smirk on your face too if you got to become a young version of yourself force ghost after all the people you killed.

But...but...the dark side made him do it!!!!

While in terms of story the prequels are really just one big plot hole (pretty much shooting fish in a barrel to even talk about it), the one thing that bothers me most about Anakin's abrupt on-set of evilness "transformation" is just how "here kid, come have some candy in my nice comfy van" the vibe from the Emperor is. He turns into the kid who eats paste.

Anakin may have been annoying, wooden, and generally the least charismatic lead character ever put to film, but he wasn't stupid or weak. Until he suddenly starts murdering children because an old man makes an abstract implication that he can ensure he can keep getting laid (since except for one scene Anakin seems completely disconnected from the fact he is going to be a father, which I guess kind of explains why he shows no particular interest for the next 20 years in what happened).

As I said, though, the holes/inconsistencies that make supposedly smart characters complete idiots are too numerous to count (basing the visual look of the Jedi in the prequels on Obi-wan in the OT - because everyone forgot what Jedi robes looked like so Obi-wan didn't feel the need to change clothes while in hiding, etc.), but this one is the most egregious after "she has lost the will to live" even though she just gave birth to two babies who would be in mortal danger from their child-killer father.

That's part of the reason as time goes on I see just how deeply the parallels between Lucas and Roddenberry go. They both seemed to decide several decades later that the original themes of their creation needed to be atoned for, to the extent that they actually deny what is plainly reality (example, Roddenberry in later years really argued that Starfleet did not have a very heavy nautical/Space Navy basis, and that no species should be in conflict because "there is no conflict in the 23rd century".

The difference was, Lucas controlled Star Wars and Roddenberry didn't control Trek. That's why we got Star Trek II, Star Trek VI (both of which would not have been made if it were up to Roddenberry) and why TNG didn't get good until S3 when his involvement ceased. I'm hoping that this parallel train keeps going, as now that Star Wars has been removed from Lucas' control, based on current appearances it seems like some of the best of Star Wars is yet to come.

1 - See my previous post

2 - Padme' had a full "belly" when she was paraded around for her funeral.
It gave the impression to everyone that she died while pregnant.

3 - Yoda also dressed similarly in TESB and RotJ
