Why would Luke see Hayden's ghost when it's not the face he saw die before him? Also, why would someone who died in their 40s come back as a 20-something ghost?

Pretty sure that Anakin never looked in a mirror after "The Incident"
So, he only knows what he looked like before he "died!"

Dude barely talks.
Looks like he shops at Wal*Mart/K*Mart and has one of the ugliest ships ever!

To top it all off.... He finally uses his jetpack and dies because of a tiny scratch on it!
Dude is nothing but a punk-@$$-b*tch... Thankfully he's dead and swallowed.
I guess you had to be there, obviously you weren't. That's the only thing I can figure.

When Obi-wan was talking to Luke about how his father died, he said Luke's father was 'murdered' by Vader so when Ani turned to the darkside/murdered/died he died in his 20s.

I've heard that argument before, about how Anakin as a good man "died" when he became Darth Vader. And nothing against you, but I think that's total BS. Anakin was redeemed after he killed the Emperor. In ROTJ, Luke even said it himself that "he can save him, he can turn him back... to the good side." Personally I think it was symbolic and showed forgiveness of the Force to have the elderly Anakin ghost in the picture. To me, it was an unnecessary change, and it became a question of "Can I? This would look cool..." in the mind of George Lucas versus "Should I?"

That's a good point. It's one of the most touching and memorable scene and of course, I forgot since I haven't watched it in about 6 months. I personally prefer the old ghost than the new.

I do agree that is one of the many changes which Lucas just being out of control trying to tie-in the prequels.

Totally agree, it was a very touching scene. I guess if there is one pro to having Hayden in the scene, is that it allowed Luke to see what his father looked like as a young man. But they should've tried to get Hayden to smile like Sebastian Shaw did. The way he glowered at them was just downright creepy...

Be there?
You mean around and a fan of the Unaltered Trilogy?

My first Star Wars movie was Return of the Jedi in 1983.
I saw it in a Drive-In.
My parents had me hidden under a blanket in the back of a FireBird.

Boba Fett sucks!

If I had been Luke and that kid's ghost popped up next to his two friends I would have exclaimed, "Who the heck is that?" As far as we know he had never seen a picture of young Anakin.

But Luke never actually saw his father without the burnt face or the machines either. Like I said, if nothing else, Vader should have been a ghost in the Vader suit then.

All they did was replace shaw's head with Anakin's.

As far as Luke ever seeing what his father looks like....

May i draw your attention to a series called: The Dark Nest Trilogy.

And i am quoting here:

In The Dark Nest trilogy (2005), Luke and Leia uncover old recordings of their parents in R2-D2's memory drive; for the first time, they see their own birth and their mother's death, as well as their father's corruption to the dark side.

Dark Nest was such a bad read...
Also, it took place like 40 years after RotJ!
It was the next story after the Yuuzhan Vong invasion.

Finished watching the Complete Saga box set. Still dislike the prequels but not as much as I used to but don't see myself watching them ever again. Liked some of the touch ups in A New Hope but hated all of the added CGI crap now that I went back and watched the Despecialized version again even the things I said I was OK with a few days ago I dislike. Empire wasn't destroyed by the changes but I still prefer the original Boba Fett voice, the new Emperor I kind of like and the added Wampa stuff was not needed. Return Of The Jedi is ruined. Jedi Rocks is still a crime against humanity and the added NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO ruins my favorite scene in the history of film.

Conclusion: I want my $89.99 back and from now on I will pretend the prequels didn't happen and watch the Despecialized OT. The ball is in your court J.J., don't let me down.

Can you get a refund on the box set?

Probably not a refund, but I would think he could sell it at a reasonable price.

You should own the BDs anyway if you want to watch the despecialized edition. Otherwise it's outright piracy.

It may be technically piracy but it's for a good cause.

I have bought every version of Star Wars going back to the first VHS releases. I have no guilt about downloading the Despecialized Editions. They are what we should have gotten instead of those non-anamorphic DVDs but I will keep the BD set for the bonus materials and "just to have it". My local trade in stores and the FYE have shelves of used Complete Saga sets that people have sold so I doubt I would get anything for it.
