No, part of the original Jabba scene was first seen in Star Wars to Jedi: The Making of a Saga, the 1983 television documentary special that originally aired on PBS. I had this documentary on VHS as part of the 1992 letterboxed VHS trilogy set.

See the 15:25 mark on this video:

Actually, both "Making Magic" and "Behind the Magic" were CD-ROM releases.

Making Magic came out first, in 1996, and was about the making of the Special Editions. it did have at least some of the original Jabba scene in the part about making the new SE version of the scene. See the footage in this review of the disc at the 4:35 mark:

Behind the Magic came out in 1998, and doesn't look to have had the original Jabba scene in it.

Interestingly, the Wookiepedia states that the first glimpse of the original Jabba scene was in the 1977 documentary "The Making of Star Wars" that aired on ABC, but after a quick scrub through it I can't find the scene:

I don’t mean to be crude, but bluntly, I’m really starting to get the sad impression that if the originals ever come out-and I doing that they ever will-it won’t happen while Lucas is still alive.

Yes because
[Show spoiler] Rey takes the Skywalker name with the blessing of Luke and Leia and having been healed by Ben Solo (of Skywalker blood).

The Rise Of Skywalker is the 9th & final movie of the Skywalker saga, so it is part of and the end of the Skywalker saga.

It has not been announced at this stage if Daisy Ridley will be returning for any future films, so any film that now gets made will not be a part of the Skywalker saga. If they do end up bring Daisy Ridley back, knowone knows what they will name the films.

[Show spoiler]Or just because she has the name Skywalker doesn't mean any film with her appearing in it would have to be known as a Skywalker saga film. Because even tho she now has the name, the Skywalker saga also meant the story of Luke & Leia, and i doubt they will be reappearing in the future. So no, as of now any future films are not part of the Skywalker saga.

I would love to get a look at that contract he signed. It must have had a clause stating that the original films could never be given a decent release or they would have come out already.

I'd heard some rumors that while Disney did buy Lucasfilm (and Star Wars) outright they may still have to pay some sort of royalty to George Lucas when using characters & such from Lucas-era Star Wars. And the current people running Disney don't want to pay Lucas anymore than they have to.

The rumor states that Disney not wanting to pay Lucas anymore royalties than they had to is why Luke is pretty much not in TFA and dead by the end of TLJ, why Han Solo is killed, why Lando only shows up in TRoS, why we never see the original cast all together at all in any of the new movies; etc.

I don't know if there is anything to this rumor, but if releasing the theatrical editions of 4,5,& 6 means paying some sort of royalty to George Lucas; maybe Disney doesn't want to pay right now. Or maybe Disney wants to suppress Lucas-era Star Wars in favor of their current stuff. Disney just did that big home video re-release with the new covers, but left out Caravan of Courage and Ewoks: The Battle for Endor.

And it seems like Ron Howard used some judicious arm twisting to get Disney to release a new blu-ray for Willow.

You left out Disnee having Carrie Fisher bumped off to avoid paying George any more monies.

On a slightly less morbidly sarcastic note, you do know that Lucas' own treatments for the sequels sidelined the OG characters even more than what the current ST does, yes? And that Harrison Ford had wanted to kill off Han Solo long ago? It wouldn't surprise me if Han dying was one of the big reasons why he came back for TFA in the first place. BTW, how the hell does releasing the current editions of 1-6 not trigger a 'royalty' to George in this scenario? Sounds like the sort of clickbait nonsense that Midnight's Edge usually shit out.

I don't know if that's true, but there is something funny going on. George Lucas must still have a little control over something like the original versions. Decades after the 60's Batman series had never been released on video some lawyers/fans actually looked over the contract that Warners and Fox had been feuding about and got the series out on Blu-ray. I think it would probably take a similar effort after Lucas dies of old age.

Regarding Harrison Ford in The Force Awakens; when I first saw that movie, I was devastated of course seeing Han die, but I also thought to myself “Harrison’s been wanting this since Return of the Jedi... this is probably why he agreed to be in this one in such a huge role” lol.

I basically thought the same thing. I was in the theatre and saw it building up to it but before I could really feel surprised it hit me that ‘why else would Ford agree to come back for another sequel (other than money)?? This is the same guy who at one point said he had no interest in reprising the role because he didn’t relate to it anymore’.

[Show spoiler]I'm of the opinion that the newer films don't mesh as well as they should, and feel like an unnecessary followup, but I can still see this title workable. The Jedi are wiped out, and she's lived her life as Rey, with no surname. She's a Palpatine by birth, but it never mattered in her life until Darth Sidious put her into the situation where she must kill him and become the new heir to the Sith. The film concludes with her honoring both Luke and Leia. Jedi and Sith have had their conclusion. The only thing left is a destined person who has chosen the title of Skywalker. If ya wanna get extra dramatic you can even go back to the prequel trilogy and say that a surname of a slave becomes a taken name of (possibly) the most powerful single being in the universe.

I should also note that I am considerably drunk, and wish everyone in this thread a Merry Christmas, with the knowledge that I probably won't reply to any replies.

That's kind of hard to imagine. Especially in Luke's case. Are we to assume that the criminal misuse of Hamill in the ST had nothing whatsoever to do with Kathleen Kennedy? That Luke not being alive going into IX, over Hamill's and Trevorrow's objections, was what Lucas would have done?

Lucas himself told Hamill that he'd basically be Obi-Wan in the new trilogy, a glorified cameo. Luke would have been alive going into the last film but that doesn't mean his overall screen time in the three movies would've been greater than what we got. Lucas may have sidelined him for the first two and put a big sacrifice play into the last one. It's like poetry, it rhymes, etc etc

Obviously the original cast should be "sidelined" or rather be minor characters who are there to serve as guiders to the new main characters. I thought Luke's screentime in the new trilogy was fine.

If someone had told me back in the day that someday there would be a sequel trilogy but (barring cameos) Luke and Han would get one movie apiece and would never be on screen together, I would have been like:
