When they were doing artwork for EP2's new sith the original design was more alien (KIT FISTO WAS THE ORIGINAL DESIGN CHOICE FOR EP2).

BUT

Lucas said that he did not want to go anymore alien than darth maul he wanted someone more regal and sophisticated hence DOOKU was born.

He wanted to show that Sidious can not only train individuals like maul, but he also is conniving and powerful enough to turn a jedi to the darkside.

[Show spoiler]Anakin Skywalker.

Well, all things considered he HAD to make someone you actually think the seperatists (sp?) would follow. I mean, Darth Maul doesn't really seem to be THAT guy. Put yourself in the Trade Federation's shoes: Who would you follow into war? The guy that looks like Satan or the nice old guy?

I love Sir Christopher Lee but Dooku wasn't a great character in the films at any rate. His first confrontation with Obi-Wan was awful. You don't know if he's lying, stupid or a pawn of Darth Sidious. When Anakin mentions to him in RotS that his powers have doubled he missed the opportunity to say "been twice as stupid is nothing to brag about boy....."

By nature Sith are cunning, devious and untrustworthy but when he's betrayed by Palpatine in RotS he has a look of great incredulity on his soon to be rolling around the floor face. And what was he doing when he left the Jedi Order had he gone to the Grey Side? The whole there can only be two Sith's is a terrible notion.

Darth Maul may have been a heavy but he was a decent one.

Not trying to start ANYTHING with you at all, but you NEED to watch that first scene between Dooku and Obi Wan again. Dooku us actaully trying to recruit Obi Wan as his Sith Apprentice in that scene but fails. Eventually he recruits Grevious as his Apprentice (I've been trained in your Jedi arts by Count Dooku!). So, when he is killed I took that (upon repeated viewings) as an "Oh S$#! He got to me first!" kinda moment. I liked Dooku.

As Grievous showed though, while he was able to assassinate numerous Jedi, he was no match for the likes of Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi. I do agree with the Council's decision to send Kenobi though, Grievous proved to be rather slippery and almost got away.

Grevious may not have been an apprentice in the way we commonly think of it, but I think Sideous felt he WAS Dooku's Apprentice. I think that is why he felt it was so important to send Anakin to kill Grevious (Sith always kill each other off). Just my guess though. I think you could draw that conculsion because Sideous would have seen Grevious' skills with lightsabers and probably thought: "Yes, I think Tyranus has plans for me that include a pair of plyers and a blow torch..."

I agree, I thought that scene was good. His scenes in ROTS were bad IMO. That fight with Anakin and Obi-Wan was so rushed.

That blind hatred comment wasn't aim at your post.

What I am saying is that a lot of people jump on the "he's trying to change history/destroying history" band wagon. There is a HUGE difference. The originals are not destroyed. As Beast said a few times he as not gone into anyone home and demand at gun point that you return the old versions. That would be trying to change history. What he is doing is refusing to release the older version in new formats and that's rubbing people the wrong way. They want to use the excuse that he is changing history cause it really sound's so good in a post and help make them feel so much better.

The releases of Star Wars, like it or not are under his personal choices. If he doesn't want to release the older version and prefer releasing the new ones, sorry but that's how it is. You can be mad about it but don't try and claim he is trying to change history since he is not. If it make's you mad you can refuse to purchase what he is offering, that is your right as a consumer. His rights are to release what he want's as logical or illogical as it make look or sound. You want to say it's a stupid business decision, I am right there with you. Calling it trying to change history however I am not there with you.

That's why I find it funny how some people say that George only works with "yes men" and doesn't listen to or take suggestions from anyone.

I thought it was a very poor recruitment speech.

Nevermind different folks....

I think either the 'making of' or the 'art of' books for Revenge of the Sith expand on Sidious' plan for Anakin at the beginning of the film.

To change history, all one needs to do is nothing. Apathy at its finest. By no longer allowing certain versions of things to be released eventually technology will move forward and things will break down. Laserdisc players, VHS, and DVD will be obsolete (two of the three already are). Thus versions not released on new technology will be in essence dead. If they are unavailable for newer generations to appreciate (as they were when originally released) one has changed history. Lucas is 'indirectly' changing history via apathy.

That's pretty much what I got from this...

Quote:
The other versions will disappear. Even the 35 million tapes of Star Wars out there won't last more than 30 or 40 years. A hundred years from now, the only version of the movie that anyone will remember will be the DVD version [of the Special Edition], and you'll be able to project it on a 20' by 40' screen with perfect quality. I think it's the director's prerogative, not the studio's to go back and reinvent a movie.

I'm sure GL still has some good copies of the OT. He gave in once, not that long ago & put them on DVD. I would be more surprised if he didn't eventually give in on blu-ray.

Palpatine made Anakin believe that he should be the one to kill Grevious, Palpatine also new that the Jedi council would not send Anakin but would send Obi Wan instead.

Palpatine was putting ideas into Anakins head to continue the distruss Anakin was having with the council. Also Anakin finding out that Obi Wan was sent to kill Grevious angered and frustrated him more putting more doubt into his mind that the Jedi distrussed Anakin.

It has nothing to do with sending Anakin to kill Grevious due to being a sith apprentice, Anakin was not even turned then. Palpatine wanted to convince Anakin that the Jedi were the enemy and was against Anakin.
