I think it changes his character quite a bit but it makes no difference to the plot. Which is the important thing. There's a big difference between a guy who shoots first when backed into the corner (remember Greedo gave him the option of an out) and one who shoots to defend himself.

Again, he is not changing history. The original are still preserve they were never destroyed. What really bug's people is that he won't release the originals, that is the real problem. He is not changing history since they are still being preserve for the future, he just want to release the version he want's and that is his own personal rights as the owner of the franchise, like it or not.

That is exactly what I was talking about before about blind hatred on the part of certain people.

I have never used the term "true fan". Everyone is a fan, whether they like the prequels or the special editions.

There's no pedigree for fans in my eyes. The whole "Lucas Raped My Childhood" does get tiring though.

At least not until someone invents a time machine and he can go back and replace the movies.

Which I think is the next level of incredible absurdity that this endless debate can reach.

For one thing the public doesn´t own Star Wars. If you commission an artist to paint a picture just for you and you pay him for it it is yours. If you buy the rights to use an existing artwork from an artist he has all the right to change the original at any point! Lucas was not commissioned by the public to make these movies to their wishes. He is an independent filmmaker who made the films for himself. He has the rights to release them the way he wants!

Another point is that if you bought a copy of Star Wars (maybe on DVD) Lucas has no intensions of coming to your home and alter these copies.

The point is that he can´t and shouldn´t be forced to release the films in ways he doesn´t want to see them released.

From a certain point of view the public did commission it's sequels by making the original Star Wars a success. And he can do what he wants. He can do a lot of people a favour and restore the originals for public prosperity and historical significance. And at the end of the day, what's really wrong with that?

I agree. Williams was smart enough not to overplay the Imperial March in the prequels, so the lack of that cue in Star Wars doesn't hurt the film one bit. No prequel music needs to be in there either.

Jar Jar didn't RUIN Star Wars, he just took what could've been a fantastic PT and lowered it to a really good PT. Yes he is quite possibly the worst character in all 6 movies and considering we have characters like kiddie Anakin and C-3P0 that's saying a lot.

1) Thesa sun doin murder to mesa skin.

AND

When he steps in s**t.

AND

When he gets his arm caught in the podracer.

The originals maybe preserved but that doesn't do the people who want to see them any favours. Why preserve them in the first place if they aren't going to release them? Why not let them rot? Do the public have access to them? What if the company who are preserving them decide to restore them and transfer them to a digital medium?

In the immortal words of General Katana (well immortal until he had his head chopped off) "Ashes to ashes, dust to dust. If you don't take it out and use it, it's going to rust."

And what have my posts got to do with blind hatred?

You forgot the bit when he electrocuted his tongue. Or when he started a war and still walks around like a clown when other Gungans are dying in front of him. Hilarious....

In RotJ when the little Ewok goes back to see if his dead friend is okay I feel moved. Jar-Jar only moves my bowels and George Lucas to a bigger house....

Nah, that's Darth Maul. Just glad they had the sense to kill him off, and bring in Dooku instead.

They can legally watch them in VHS or Laserdisc or non-anamorphic DVD... or illegally, there are some other options for those who don't respect copyright law.
