This has aired on MGM HD, so it's probably more likely than not.

Tales is the only must buy for me, and it's a big one.

Haven't seem Deadtime Stories, but it does have my interest.

I didn't feel like anything was tongue in cheek, really there is no comedy or scenes where it's like "look at this, I'm being clever referencing this previous film". I meant throwback slasher in the sense that it feels very much like a slasher from the 80's, very straight forward set up, killer, kill teens one by one, final showdown with final girl and killer. Nothing new to the formula (not a bad thing) but I think it's important to tell people it's similar to 80's slashers especially since it's a newer film that they might expect something else.

Several nice announcements there and I can finally rest easy knowing that I'll be getting my copy of Tales from the Hood in the not so distant future. Thank you Scream Factory. Between this announcement and the Slumber Party Sequels there isn't much left I am asking for personally unless they can branch out who they license from. Excellent news indeed.

That's too, maybe I'll go for it. I was curious enough but never recorded it when it was on TV. I'm like four cents off from free shipping and the 10 percent of on the Shout Sale, and I'd rather spend a little extra and get an entire title instead of dropping seven or eight bucks on shipping charges.

In other news, we should learn the February slate this week. I wonder how many of these new announcements will feature, and if Ben and Willard will be among the releases.

Cliff - will Ben and Willard be among the February releases?

Totally. I was really hoping for a preorder today so I can take advantage of the sale again.

Maybe I'll be pleasantly surprised.

Wow, I'm definitely in for Tales from the Hood, Psycho (1998) & Virus. The Vagrant is a maybe.

Firestarter, Demented, Angry Red Planet and Screaming Skull for me. I'm bummed that the three best titles out of the 50's poll choices - I Bury the Living, The Man from Planet X or The Vampire - didn't made the cut, but hopefully they'll be part of a future announcement (alongside Four Skulls of Jonathan Drake).

I'm so happy The Angry Red Planet is getting a Blu-ray release. Such a fun, unique, late-night creature feature flick.

I love getting titles like this! There's just something special about getting B-movie titles that you watched as a kid on TV... and then seeing them for the first time in a decidedly superior picture

I think the titles I am most interested in are Tales from the Hood (haven't seen it but so many have been asking for it) and Demented (it's an odd little exploitation/slasher film. Caught a murky VHS-rip of it, but wouldn't mind seeing it on Blu).

May as well milk it for all it's worth. It's diminishing returns on physical media from this point out. They've already released it on Blu as a 50th anniversary, then re-released it with slightly different packaging and a digital copy, a steelbook, and now a "pop art" release with a new cover.

I could see them allowing Scream to release it, riding that for about a year, and then re-releasing it again in 4k or something. In fact, I'm going to guess that it will eventually go down this way.
Same thoughts I had. I read somewhere that Universal was very protective of the original Psycho for some reason but still, it would be super exciting to see what Scream Factory could offer us as far as extras for it.

Firestarter, Demented and Virus are for sure purchases. Will research a few others. Good list!

I remember thinking the Psycho remake was super stupid even at 19 in the theater. No one has ever suggested to me I should reevaluate it. Not knocking Scream for releasing it, but I wonder how many will buy it.

The one I REALLY wanted was Invasion of the Bee Girls. I'm surprised the B&W ones won out over that, too, considering the crazy title and all the babes.

What's the Matter with Helen and The Vagrant make more sense.
Hopefully this means maybe we'll get the MST3K episode as a bonus on the disc.

I was 13/14 when I saw it in the theater and even at that age I thought it was stupid.

It's technically well made and Norman acts more like book Norman, but other than that it's just Psycho in color. I think Van Sant may have purposely done it so it would be forgotten instead of adding his own vision, but I can't be sure.

Least it kept the paint fresh on the motel for the studio tour.

I'm probably in the minority here but the only movie I get excited for off that list is Deadtime Stories, I used to love that movie back in the VHS days.
