Default Confessions of a Junior Audioholic

I never new how addicted I was to sound. I'm amazed right now!!! I almost peed my pants I have a Entry level Sony STR DG510. With box speakers I bought off a friend 3 yrs ago.

SO I decided to upgrade my audio system. I just order a PIO SC 05!!! I went to BestBuy today to get my speakers. I bought (2) DEF TECH BP 7006 w/ the built in SUB for my fronts!!! I got BestBuy to price match $510 from DIGITALCRAZE.COM. I also ordered a DEFT TECH C/L/R 2300 Center Channel speaker with a built in Sub!!!

About an hour ago I hooked up my BRAND NEW BP 7006'S!!! I finally throw my new favorite CD "THE E.N.D." By Black EYE Peas. I played that "BOOM BOOM POW".... I JUST PISSED MYSELF !!! OMG!! I finally feel the BASS in a song!!! Simply amazing!!!

I don't know if I need new Surround Speakers?? The one's I have sound great(they're cheap outta of the box Surround Sound speakers)!!! I was thinking of getting BP1.2X's or BP2X's. I dont know if I'll need them.. My new fronts sound GREAT!!! I get what they were saying about this "SOUND STAGE".

Did I forget to mention I ordered a Pio SC-05 . My Sony 510 is an entry level AV RECEIVER w/ 100 watts per channel. I cant wait to get my SC-05!!!! I'm STUPID SCARED OF HOW GOOD ITS GOING TO SOUND!!!!!

I only updated my 2 fronts!!!! I havent even got my C/L/R Center speaker yet!!! THIS IS MY NEW ADDICTION!!!

Both questions are impossible to answer. Instead, why don't you let us know what kind of movie interests you. We will surely provide you with good suggestions after the fact.

Regarding the purchase of BD's and price...each retailer (B&M and Online) has their deals from week to week, and daily sometimes. I've purchased a lot of BD's here from recommendations and Hot Deal threads on this board. Keep your ears and eyes open for what's around your area and don't discount PV's from BlockBuster either.

Ah man!

Show off blu's: Troy, Ironman, Transformers

Places to buy: Anywhere you get the lowest prices. Be patient, and buy them when the price drops - Amazon, Best Buy weekly deals, Target, Walmart, check this site every 5 minutes for deal updates

Edit: Oops, I tried to answer the questions after you said they could'nt be answered John The show off movies are "in my opinion"

I've seen Baraka, and the pq is jaw dropping- That's why I put Troy in there. The shots of cliffs, water, and beach (without effects) are amazing.

Troy is excellent as well! I agree 100%. Have watched it a few times actually, simply because of the PQ.

Nice choice on the Pioneer Elite SC-05! Yes, that receiver's got the goods!

Get Kung Fu Panda on Blu-ray. Stunning, reference-quality computer animation and audio.

Yes, wait for a sale on Blu-rays. You will kick yourself at least a few times when you find that waiting a week or so could save you $10 off a title. Especially wait for a sale on box sets/trilogies. Why pay $70 for a trilogy box set at a brick-&-mortar store (like Spiderman or Pirates of the Caribbean - both very good "show off" material as well) when you can get them for sale for $45.00.

Come to think of it, you can get the Pirates trilogy RIGHT NOW (through June 20th) at Best Buy for $44.95. Better get over there and pick it up! The sea battle toward the end of POTC3 - At World's End is to DIE for, video and audio wise!

Master and Commander would be another great audio reference Blu-ray disk. I use Transformers as one of my preferred references as well.

Magnolia stores carry them.

I'm more interested in how you managed to get BB to price match a website! Sounds like you got a great price.

Welcome to the wonderful world of Def. Tech.!

I'd recommend replacing your surrounds as well, but you'll want to wait until you can buy something that will sonically match your new front sound stage. Actually while your at it you may even want to buy 2 pairs of surrounds to get your full 7.1 on!

When your ready to upgrade your sub I cannot recommend Def tech's Supercube line enough. I have a single 3, and it alone is more than enough bass for my 9 x 14 HT room, though of course I want to buy a second one just to be over the top!

As far as movie recommendations, obviously all of the titles mentioned above offer awesome sound and visuals, but I always pop in the concert "Dave Matthews and Tim Reynolds: Live at Radio City" when I really want to WOW people.
