Default How do you connect PS3 straight to Logitech Z-5500 speakers? And What audio settings?

I have a BenQ E2400HD monitor and I'm going to hook the video up through the HDMI port from both monitor and ps3. Now the sound is my problem. How can i get sound using the Logitech z-5500 straight to the ps3? Using a optical cable? What audio setttings on the ps3? How would i get the best sound?

Optical Cable yes.
Set your audio to Bitstream, to stream both Dolby Digital and DTS out for your Z5500 to decode.

the z5500 should take optical & coax inputs,

DO NOT SET YOUR AUDIO TO BIT STREAM.

you are connecting them directly to speakers, speakers cannot decode dolby digital, dts or any other format. they just play whatever you feed them.

keep your audio to linear pcm. if you want lossless master audio, i suggest you get a home theatre reciever that decodes dolby true hd & dts hd ma

right now you can use bitstream if you were playing a regular dvd, since your speakers can recieve digital dd & dts 96/24.

using Logitech speakers, the difference between lossless and lossy would be minimal at best.

Also, Lossless through optical is only 2 channel.

Id rather have 5.1 lossy over 2.0 (stereo) lossless any day of the week for movies.

the speakers do take coax inputs

and even though the speakers may not be top of the line...you definately can hear the difference.

EDIT : just remmembered it was analog and not coax for lossless.

lossy 5.1 is the only way for him, or a lossless 2.0
