Scenic tracks and city tracks would be more visually appealing, I agree. If Gran Turismo 8 was distributed on one-terabyte optical discs from Folio Photonics, there would be more room for them on the disc.

I guarantee Sony will not be using those things for the PS6. Honestly, I doubt there will be any physical media option, given they already dropped it for the PS5 Pro. I also don't think a more scenic course actually takes up much more data than a circuit course; it's more that they prioritized the real-life circuits when developing tracks for the game.

I would like to see more city based courses in the series. They usually seem to stay track focused for the most part. The Tokyo based tracks are probably among the few I can remember on GT7 ATM. I swear there was more of a European style town/city track but I don't think they bought it back for GT7.

You might like to read this article. It says that "Upon its reveal, the majority of gamers guffawed at the fact the PS5 Pro would cost $699 but would not come with either a disc drive or a stand."

https://www.thegamer.com/ps5-pro-dis...-sony-digital/

Because of this, the PS5 Pro Console is not selling well:

https://www.dualshockers.com/bad-news-for-the-ps5-pro/

So if there is a PS6, maybe Sony will learn from their mistake and give the PS6 an optical disc drive. If the PS6 has no optical disc drive, I hope it has enough SSD space to hold Gran Turismo 8 with all the cars and tracks fans want.

If it has city based courses, the game should allow you to design the track layout for those courses.

The PS5 Pro isn't selling poorly because it lacks a disc drive, it's selling poorly because it's $750 dollars. Even if they kept the disc drive included, it wouldn't make a dent in the sales numbers. It's simply too expensive for most consumers, and if Sony wants to keep costs down on the PS6, the disc drive is the easiest thing for them to cut.

To discourage people from intentionally hitting other cars in online multiplayer, the game should require you to drive so many clean miles (without going off-track, hitting the wall or hitting other cars), before it allows you any viewpoint besides a camera view hovering above and behind the car. Once you've proven you can race clean, then the game will allow to look through the driver's eyes, or through a camera mounted on the front hood. But the nanosecond you go off the track, into the wall, or into another car, you lose the privilege of those cooler camera views-until you spend enough time racing cleanly.

Then I hope two terabytes of SSD space is enough.

If the game sizes stayed the same, 2Tb at launch with an expansion slot to let people upgrade wouldn't be too bad I think.

I was waiting for pricing to drop but but for a 1Tb NVMe but now you can get 2Tb for even less so I'm hoping to see if I can find the 4Tb NVMe drives on sale and then I'm done for the rest of the gen.

I often wonder what takes PD so long to make these games as they keep rehashing out a lot of the same content each time. Same tracks, same cars many times, more license tests, etc. I think they are full time staff paid for by Sony and just take their time. No rush until the next console type situation.

The Xbox 360 game "Project Gotham Racing 4" had races where cars and motorcycles raced each other. But the disclaimer before the game's main menu and at the beginning the game's manual had a sentence which read: "Depictions of motorcycles and cars racing against each other are unrealistic and must not be attempted in real life while on a public road, closed course, racetrack, or in any other situation."

Thanks. Driveclub too.
Crew 2 with cars vs bikes, real manufacturers. No damage physics in that game.

Nascar, I wonder why there are so many crashes each race. Almost like it's expected.

The fast speeds really affect physics and controls.

The Gran Turismo series is sharply focused on visual polish. The improvements in graphics were clearly noticeable when we went from PlayStation 1 to PlayStation 2, and even from PlayStation 2 to PlayStation 3. Now that hardware advancements seem to have hit a brick wall, there seems to be very little improvement in graphics now. I have a feeling a lot of the visual improvements in recent releases of Gran Turismo have gone unnoticed by most people.

The Forza Motorsport series has released a new version every 2 years since 2005. It may not have been as photorealistic as Gran Turismo, but most Forza Motorsport fans either didn't notice or didn't care. What Forza Motorsport fans did care about was that Forza Motorsport offered several features that Gran Turismo didn't initially offer, including:

-A livery editor for custom paint jobs
-More freedom in customizing car parts for better performance, such as swapping engines and drivetrains from one car to another
-Damage that could not only be seen, but could degrade the vehicle's performance
-A racing line that showed where to drive and turned yellow and red to indicate that you needed to hit the brakes (turning green when you slowed down enough)
-An automatic braking feature for novices
-The ability to buy and sell customized cars online

Now if Gran Turismo or Forza Motorsport gave players the ability to pick a city and design a race course through the streets of that city, that would be awesome.

What do you think of Forza Motorsport? And if you don't like Forza Motorsport, what racing games do you like?

I LOVED early GT but these days I'm more of a fan that follows what's put into the product than buying and playing the product.

I would say up to around GT3 is when I was pretty invested. After 4 it completely went downhill.

I'm mainly annoyed with the online only BS GT7 introduced where they gutted the single player experience so once you offline, you lost all your progress. That's why I haven't bought the game. My brother did and I play that.

Good points there.
Another thing that improved was being able to turn the car around. I think in GT1, the game will not let the player turn around to go the other way. It was some strange turning barrier that prevented it. They finally fixed that and allowed for burnouts too if not careful with the acceleration.

I like Gran Turismo when it was in 3D on PS3 too. I think that was the first game to introduce the dash camera interiors if not mistaken.

My favorite game for simulation driving would be Project Cars 2. Right away, the game gives the player complete control over everything. So you can drive any car you want, set up any type of race, time of day, laps, track, etc. and just have fun creating your own season. I made an entire F1 season of races. You can also adjust the CPU difficulty and the game is very forgiving on easiest if you wanted that. PS4 though, so the graphics have some weaknesses. Otherwise, great game. I never played PC3 as I hear it took a step backwards.

Here's something else. Why not have speed painting competitions in Gran Turismo 8? You are shown the paint job of a car, and you have to recreate that paint job before time runs out. If you get it 100% accurate before time runs out, great. If not, you get a grade from 0-100% when the time runs out. That would enable there to be a winner even if nobody gets the car 100% accurate in the time allotted.
