Now just to decide on the 91 or the 92. i think the 92 model as it is not much more for that one over the 91 model.

did you get to read my question above? curious to see what your answer will be. thanks

I have had products from Pioneer Elite and Rotel and Ayre Acoustics, and I have NEVER EVER had a problem with any of my components, and I've had the pleasure of owning such pieces for years and years and years with absolutely NO service calls or anything to speak of. Perhaps it's more than luck -- just high quality gear!
Oh, $799 for the Elite 92 receiver sounds really sweeeeeet!! I'd love to get one now, but I have more Blu-Ray discs to buy and HD-DVD to destroy!!!
Priorities.

I do believe that no kind of upscaling is done by the receiver with components connected by HDMI. My ps3 will be doing the upscaling for dvds and my dvr will not be upscaled. HDMI is only pass through.

thanks again
You have to call for prices. Thats how Tweeter is too now. I was told they are an authorized dealer. Like any other place I have 30 days to return.

Seems to me they use Videogon just for advertising purposes. I guess thats how the get around not actually selling the things online.

well i know the 92 elite model does have 1080p upscaling built into the receiver. i am am pretty sure that some of the blu ray player models upscale also, i just dont know if they conflist with each other or which model BD players upscale the best?

They will both perform an upscale and improve the PQ, but the 92TXH has a better chip than most Blu-ray players, so it will have a bigger impact in the improvement of the picture.

I own a 92 and have owned Elite's for about 5 years now. I had to bring my 82 in last year for a firmware update and had to provide a receipt from an authorized dealer for the shop to do it for free. B&M stores are not so different than online stores. You can but an Elite product from any authorized online dealer, here is the list from Pioneers website:
http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/pn...297187,00.html

They will sell you any Elite product. They have to advertise the price as MSRP, or not advertise it at all; ie, "click the link to add to the cart". You can get many different Elite products from online dealers that are authorized. If you call them, most will give you a deal on an item, because they know so many are buying from non-dealers. B&M stores will also deal too. I got mine from Magnolia for $999. Not the 799 for the price on this thread, but the piece of mind is worth the extra $200.

As for upscaling on it, the receiver will only upscale analog signals to 1080P. With an HDMI connection, it will scale to 480P, which your monitor/BD player already does. The 92 is worth the extra money due to the extra HDMI, full audio codec support and it has the new MCACC 4th gen. The 94 has a 4th HDMI, more watts per and has an Ethernet connection, which is why I almost bought it. That Ethernet connection is a very nice feature. You can update the firmware, without taking it into the shop, stream music from the internet or your PC. Either way, I have been very happy with my 92.

Well, I guess that makes our whole discussion about warranties moot. Their website shows the Pio Elite logo so it does look like they are an authorized dealer. That means buyers should not have any problems getting a warranty claim covered should they ever need to use it.
Looks like I am calling them tomorrow!

OK, guys got my vsx92 today from these guys. Everything was good! Hooked it up and now Im enjoying uncompressed pcm audio! Setup took me forever only because this is a new thing for me. Only snag is that this receiver seems to have trouble with my cable box over dvi to hdmi. It saw a signal, but only displayed a black screen. Pioneer says its a conversion issue. Switched to component and called Comcast to get a DVR with HDMI out.

Ordering process was easy. They emailed me a tracking#(at my request), and my total was $849 USD. Box was shipped via ups.

sounds great as i think i will be buying from them also. how was the turn around time from the time you paid till you received it? did they double box the receiver box for shipping? why did you pay $50.00 for shipping when the the site says something like $38 i think with my zip? thanks again for your input

Sounds like a good experience. I called and put my order in for a 92 as well. A little surprised they didn't double box but if no harm done, then no biggie.
I'll report back with my experience once I get it and try it out.
