Default lip sync problem new HT

I just setup a new system.

Samsung LN52A750 (AMP turned off)
Onkyo TX-SR607
Polk RC65i
Polk RC85i
Polk CS1
Polk PSW10

I have my Samsung connected via HDMI out to my Onkyo. My PS3 connect via HDMI in to my Onkyo. I also have my Direct TV box connected to my Onkyo via HDMI in.

I get lip sync audio problems while playing blu-ray movies and watching Directv.

PS3 sync problems are just a bit off, and vary movie to movie. I have my AV Sync set to 40ms, which helps a bit.
Directv sync audio problems are worst and vary channel to channel.

I have tried the Onkyo built in "auto sync" feature with little results.

Do I have something hooked up incorrectly? Is this normal with Surround Sound? Is there any fix? It's extremely annoying, and makes it hard to watch movies / shows without noticing the audio / video being off.

Also, I had no sync problems when I was just using my TV speakers.

Any help would be much appreciated.

I just got a new Samsung and have the same problem. I contacted Samsung and they said when you do HDMI passthrough it is normal. I now use HDMI from cable box directly into tv and then connect optical audio from cable to reciever (thats what samsung rep told me to do). As far as the ps3 I am still tweaking it, my reciever has a av/sync setting but I'm still trying to get it set right. I'd use optical for ps3 into reciever but my reciever wont decode the truehd so I have to have my ps3 do it, and it wont when optical is used instead of hdmi. So for blu-ray I still have to do the hdmi passthrough. It only has this issue when I am using the motionflow setting on standard. When I switched to clear it helped alot. but still slightly off in some cases.

Try setting it to 0ms.

It was originally set to 0ms. I had to up it to 40ms to make the voices sync better.

Also, I have the Auto Motion Plus feature turned completely off. I assume that the "AMP" feature requires more video processing and throws the sound off even more.

Last night I went into my TV's service menu=>sound and took a look at the factory delay to audio. I believe it was 60 (service menu is difficult to understand) and set my sync to 60ms. Seems almost perfect now.

Does anyone know anything else I can do to perhaps smooth it out just a bit more?

I seem to get this on some blus and sat box but not all the time. Im gonna set mine to 60ms and see if that prevents it. turned off the AMP also. On the Denon AVR i Have it allows you to adjust the sync while watching the program material. Use something dialoge heavy to make adjustments. just have to figure out which way to adjust LOL.

Update.

I updated the firmware on my Samsung LN55A650 which corrected the lip sync issue 100%. Firmware was 2004.0 and is now 2007.0

I have my A/V delay set to 100ms, but I am now able to use the Auto Motion Plus feature. Before updating my firmware, the AMP feature would throw my audio off by 1-2 seconds.

I new it was fixed right away after updating because with the AMP feature set to medium, sync to 0ms, the audio sync was almost perfect.

Hope this helps anyone else out there with a Samsung set. Seems that most Samsungs hover at a 100ms delay. This is from a great amount of research I've done with people who have similar problems.
