Amazon has the Onkyo 805 for $749.75 w/free shipping and no tax (at least for me).
Onkyo 805 @ Amazon.com

The cheapest I have seen this item online was for $699 at CircuitCity.com (which was actually a pricing error that they quickly fixed), but they would have also charged tax and a small shipping fee, which would have put this back up around $745.

Great deal, IMO. I'm going to buy it this evening.

You are lucky, the cheapest I could find the 805 for a month ago was $824. That was from Brandnamez.com. Makes me wish I had waited a bit... The reciever is so nice that I don't mind it though!

I plan on getting the 805 in a while, but I live in Canada and it costs around $1200 here which is BS, so that sure is a great deal you got going there.

I was looking at the reviews for it on Amazon.Com and one made me laugh a lot due to its stupidity.

'Receiver, was one of the easiest I have ever owned to set up and begin operating, Instructions were easy to follow after reading.

Setting the sound perimeters was the easiest part, and produced the best effects, after doing it manualy I ended up using the system settings.

Having used it for about two weeks with both Blu-ray and HD DVD players it has been flawless.

Sound from the HD DVD player far exceeds the blu-ray.as this system accepts true HD and the HD disc's are better encoded for this system.

Richard'

I dont think I have to point out the part that made me laugh lol

I picked up the 805 today at Circuit City for $809. I usually shop around more, but they let me return my 5 month old Denon and gave all my $'s back for that. Sweet!

Does anyone live near a BrandsMart? At the one in Stockbridge, GA, the 805 is going for 695.99, and its little brother the 605 is going for (I think) 395.99.

Compare those prices to the Canadian price (It's hard to find Onkyo products in Canada)

TX-SR705 - http://www.electronicsforless.ca/Pro...?ProductID=712 $849

TX-SR605 - http://www.electronicsforless.ca/ele...HDMI_Switching $599

TX-SR805 - http://www.electronicsforless.ca/ele...HDMI_Switching $1199

I have a question I was wondering if someone could help me with. My brother's 805 arrived today and we hooked everything up. The problem I am having is that when he tried to set up the audio on my PS3 it caused the receiver to turn off. How do I fix this? I have the HDMI cable running to the receiver and the receiver running on HDMI to our Sony 50" SXRD. Any help will be appreciated.

Hey guys I've tried to start a new thread about this but I guess I cant till I get enough post. Anyways yesterday thanks to you guys I went and bought one of these badboys form CC and so far I'm really impressed. I do have a few ?'s that maybe someone here could answer. First in when I play a disk that is TrueHD, on the Onkyo screen I'm not getting the output of TrueHD and I dont know why. I'm I really getting the TrueHD or not. A little bit of what I'm using is a PS3 using a optical cable to run my sound. Do you maybe have to run your sound through a HDMI cable to get it? Also how many use the Auddessy sound settings? I used it but some of its measurements were kinda strange for me, in particular the SW it show it at like 30 foot away... and its like maybe 7 foot max. Also it had its sound setting at like -30.. Anyways thanks in advance for any help.

yes, you need an HDMI cable to listen to dolby trueHD, Uncompressed PCM..from the PS3.

Are you using component for video? you can still use an HDMI cable for audio at the same time so you do have the ability to hear TrueHD, you just need an hdmi cable. (optical cable is not capable)

I've read that same comment in other forums and product reviews on retail sites.

Thanks crackinhedz for the response...I'm using a HDMI cable for my picture and using a optical for my sound. sounds to me like I need to use the HDMI for both is this correct?

you just bought the Onkyo 805 correct? then HDMI is all you need. no need for an optical cable...you just simply set the PS3 for HDMI audio and video.
