Default HD DVD people defecting, well duh!

I was at Wal Mart yesterday looking around and saw some person had a PS 3 Blu Ray remote in his hand. I asked him did you just get into the fomat war. He said no "I have an HD DVD Drive for my 360." He thinks HD DVD is still the supirior format, but he also said that unlike so many HD DVD people he is able to admit when his fomat has lost. Now if we could get Toshiba to relize the same thing we (Blu Ray people) would be much happier.

Most former HD DVD supporters are aware that HD DVD has lost. The transition from former HD DVD owner to new Blu-ray owner is ongoing. Only a small fraction of HD DVD owners a.k.a. red antz are still willing to deny the obvious...I am sure that they will come around too.

I agree. He can say its the superior format but its also all he has watched. When he gets the PS3 hooked up and some of the super PQ Blus going he will change his tune.

I am dual format. I used to get the Warner movies in blu format, along with the red exclusives. Since the Warner announcement, I have decided to stop buying the red exclusives. I was looking forward to American Gangster, Beowulf, and Elizabeth-Golden Age. I still want them but Uni/Para exclusive strategy seems destined for a change. My buddies that are red only concede that as well. Personally, I don't care about specs. I just want great looking picture and audio. There are some of us that just want movies and don't care much about the "war"(wierd that I feel the need to state that). I do miss the BOGOS though.

Well, he's smart enough to realise it's over for HD DVD.

superior is a word both sides have used and abused.

HD-DVD is a complete package yes.

For those of you that say one way or the other either don't have both formats ( i do ) or want to cheer you format and thats fine.

I don't want to argue about who is better or worse ( you'd lose the argument period.. )

And yes i'm have decided to to invest in blu since it strongly appears it will prevail.

There are good and bad transfers on both sides.

it's not even just about the transfers. the technical specs of Blu-ray are almost two times better than hd dvd on a purely numbers basis.

Absolutely True !!! The best post so far on this subject. It's too bad others don't see and understand this FACT. [Jim]

It is all about the transfers. I can understand it if you say the low bandwith that hd-dvd has leads to less than optimal results. However, HDM is all about tranfers. I do not replace my dvds with bad transfers(reviews) from either side.

Here you go:

FYI, August blip was Paramount news when we had a huge influx of members with.....questionable motives, shall we say.

That depends on which side you would be taking. As far as a Blu-ray fan losing an argument to you, you are wrong...period. There are plenty of people here who have shown both on this forum and others, that they can, and HAVE won debates on why Blu-ray is superior to hd-dvd.

Hd-dvd is a complete package? I guess that depends on what it is a package of? If you mean fininshed spec, then tell that to the hd-dvd folks who came up with TL-51.

it's incredible to find a smart person like him. it's very rare. that must be the person who really loved movies. while red ants mostly cared about a format and not the movie

If you were an HD DVD supporter and you have recently switched to Blu-ray, then welcome.

I don't care if you bought a bunch of HD DVD stuff, if you liked HD DVD better, if you thought HD DVD had a better package, if you thought HD DVD had a more complete spec, if you thought HD DVD had more consumer-friendly pricing, or if you still think any of those things today.

The important thing is that we unify behind a common high-def media format so we can grow this segment of the entertainment industry and all enjoy high-def movies for years to come.

If you are now a Blu-ray backer, then that's good enough for me. I don't need any kind of ridiculous purity test from you.
