Where are they 'easily had now', I have been using wiihunt and every time I go shopping to find one for my parents ( my 59 year old mother tried it at my house and loved it) and I am coming up with nothing except what the sales clerk always says "we get them in and they never last over 30 min. till they are gone" statement, they (Nintendo) have sold more then 6 million units since November, that is f'ing amazing.

to tell you the truth cdblu ... I have the PS3, the Xbox 360, and the Nintendo Wii and all of my friends and my girlfriends friends come over to my place to play on the Wii console.
Personally for me the Wii is alright ... I'm not too much into it. Everyone that comes over likes it ![]() ![]() About the only thing I don't like about the Wii is that it doesn't play ANY DVD MOVIES. ![]() |

So what? The Wii is catering to a completly different market, good on Nintendo and I hope they keep there good sales results. I don't own a Wii, I have a PS3 because thats my choice. I would think that if you want to make a comparison in sales then you should whatch the 360 vs PS3.

All of us here on this forum made the right choice by purchasing a Blu-Ray player or a PS3 or both. SA-CD was a great format and the mass consumer killed it, but here we have an honest chance of raising the bar and making such a great format standard! |

My girlfriend doesn't care for the PS3 and Xbox 360, the Wii has games she would like to play. It really doesn't matter who has the best graphics or the best system. With any game, it comes down to how much fun people will have. I have more fun on the PS3 and Xbox 360 so I have them, I'll be getting a Wii for parties. and for those who say the wii is trying to get a different market and such is it so hard to remember the N64 and Gamecube? they all were unique and developers said the same thing about them not enough space and computing power . the wii space issue is kinda solved but not including resolutions above 480p and the computing power is kinda low but i can live with that but the games is what it is all about the wii might sell 100 million consoles but if most the poeple who buy them only buy 1 game every 2-3 months or so? thats not alot of cash for nintendo. ps: whens the last time your girl friend of 60 year old grandma got excited to by the next big game like halo 3 or MGS4 or maybe paper mario extrema 2d graphics!!!? |

IMO I think that Nintendo is keeping supply tight to artificially keep demand (and the hype) for the Wii high.
I refuse to believe that they don't have the capability to meet demand with a console as simple to make as the Wii (or the DS for that matter). My gut feeling tells me that the Wii wouldn't have been near as big of a hit if it was as plentiful as the Gamecube or N64. |

I remember reading that Nintendo was looking to open 2 to 3 plants in China, so they could increase production to meet demand. After all, who would have thought the Wii would be this popular? |

Just like the GameCube before it. This is exactly what I expect and frankly, it's already starting to happen even now.

I don't see what the big deal is. Gaming as a whole is a niche market. The Wii is even more of a niche market compared to the 360 and PS3. They are going after completely different demographics. I applaud Nintendo for thinking differently this time around. They could have followed the 360/PS3 recipe and built a system with some graphical/processing prowess, and had a loyal following with their flagship titles, but not nearly the success they've enjoyed to this point.
As someone who has been gaming for nearly 3 decades, I've seen a lot of systems and concepts come and go. The Wii is easily one of the most intriguing "tries" I've seen yet. I believe that the Wii is "fad-ish". What I mean by that is that it is fun in group settings, but as time wears on and more people pick them up, that fun isn't translated into the single-player realm. Nintendo still doesn't have a fully fleshed-out online strategy yet, and I think making the Wii wireless with no hard-wired solution out of the box was a mistake. My guess is this. Wii will sell relatively well between now and the Holiday 2007 season, but after that, I expect most "casual" gamers who picked it up will find that aside from Nintendo powerhouse IPs such as Zelda, Mario and Metriod, most of the other titles are gimmicky at best. They will become disinterested, and move on to the next "in" thing. Either way, I don't see this as detracting from the PS3 per se. The Wii has sold over 6.6 million units since November, over half of what MS has sold, and it has taken them over a year and a half to get there. Sony is pulling a strong third at nearly 3 million consoles, but it has yet to even hit it's stride. This isn't a sprint, it's a marathon. Sony is in this for the long-haul and built/priced the PS3 accordingly. It may seem expensive to a lot of people now, but once HOME gets running and users are truly able to tap into the processing potential that the PS3 has, it will become more clear. Sony just needs to get some more killer releases out there, whether they are first or third party titles. Consumers will soon start to realize what a relative bargain the PS3 is once the 360 "Elite" gets released. The graphical differences between the Wii and the 360/PS3 will only grow in the coming months, and as people upgrade to HDTVs, they will notice that most of the games are programmed in 4:3, and even those that have a 16:9 mode will be less than optimal. If nothing else, people can look at the Wii as taking potential sales from the 360. |
