Wow, so much to address.
YEAH! I know
1st of all I've noticed that some (not all) of the people in this forum are complete a-holes.
This is true everywhere in society... just gotta deal with it Nothing personal, just something I've noticed. They come across as extremely elitist and anyone who DARES to have an opinion that differs from theirs, or dares to question something that that person already knows the answer to, are deemed to be an idiot and a loser and shouldn't have internet priviliges or something.
Overreacting I'd say... but I'm following you....Always found it interesting the people who take the time to tear apart a posting that they don't like. lol
This is a place that most choose to come to to kill time.... it's inevitable.
As for my audio snob comment. I was merely pointing out that while a lot of people are concerned with how perfect the audio has to be, I never have really had a super duper stereo setup. So while someone who has the surround sound theater set up in their living room might be able to tell the difference between the sound options, if I'm there with my TV and no additional speakers, I don't really think I'm going to have the same reaction.
Then it's probably best to just steer clear of Audio discussions here
Kinda like the people who post music online and they're like "is this an EAC rip? If it's not, I'm not bothering with it" and I'm just like, maybe you have a big stereo setup where you can tell the difference, but I have a set of headphones and an Ipod, so I don't care.
Do you tell them they're A-holes too?
Not that I would ever grab music online, mind you.
And for the other point people made about HOFD being one of the first out of the gate, I apologize profusely for not knowing that.
I knew it, but it wasn't my point of contention with it... I bought it unknowingly, and felt a little upset about it, as did you I'm sure. I agree that HOFD was a bad transfer, and I don't think the fact that it was an early release is any excuse for "DVD QUALITY" which is what it is, in my opinion.... Superbit DVD perhaps
I am just now getting into the BD/PS3 game and so I don't know the entire history of BD releases.
Neither do I, reference the "movies" tab at the top.... or even better, check reviews before purchasing (that's what I do since my original mistakes were costly)
Perhaps some of the a-holes that were especially a-hole-ish about that, can write/type up a history of BD releases, so I know exactly when they were released.
You're just being confrontational here.... just do a little research.... Then you can add a little footnote at the end of each section, something to the effect of "never bring up quality of these", "Not really worth complaining about" "if you bring up these we'll castrate you on the internet for all to see"
So there. Any questions about what I posted, feel free to post them up.
As I said I'm extremely sorry that I wasted people's time with a question that I wanted to know the answer to.
Question was fine.... more of a rant though, and frankly I think people are just growing tedious of the "why is it on BD25 discs, why 5.1 and not 7.1, or why not HD-MA audio"" etc etc.. discussions.... and while everyone wants "The best possible" for their money.... Many, like myself, are content with marked improvements over DVD quality, and I think HOFD was NOT a great improvement whatsoever over DVD, so I think there is a difference in what you were asking, and I think you were unfairly attacked for your question..... but that's just my opinion.
Also sorry that I didn't know the 5th Element buyers got the free upgrade. And I totally agree that since they offered a free upgrade to the new version, that that totally negates the fact that they put out a shitty transfer in the first place.
I don't agree.... I didn't know they gave the free upgrade, but I don't think a replacement completely negates it, many people buy disks upon release, and pay a premium to do so.... I don't, but some do
All is forgiven my son, walk through the gates to Heaven.
