Adverts for other movies or for the blu-ray format = Trash

This is off-topic, but semi-related to this topic........ (I trash them if they fall out, or if I'm by a trash can )

BUT:

I do something odd with those clear-plastic stickers, with a white stripe that is on top of the case (that you have to remove to open it) that has the name of the movie (and usually year) on it.....

I use a razor blade to open all of my movies, because the shrink wrap is always a pain, etc..... but when it comes to those stickers on top, I've always "Sliced them" down the middle where the crack of the case is, and just left them on......

I did this for a practical purpose actually...... On the DVDs, the cover-art would get all worn looking and I figured leaving the plastic strip on, would keep the outside plastic cover of the case snug to the case/cover.... well, over a long period of time, all of these stickers have pealed up at the top, and they are all catching dust and lint......

Well..... I've been removing the plastic strips from my Blu-rays as I get them now, but I need to go back and pull them off of ALL of them..... because I realize they look terrible now, like a poorly manicured lawn! No boxsets or "special" cases have them, but everything else pretty much does.

I am planning on organizing my DVDs, (finally) so at the same time, I'm going to try to peal off every sticker...... I think I have about 900+ which still have the stickers in tact......

I guess I could add "dump inserts" to the process too...... I can't wait to see the "Pulp Fiction, coming soon to DVD" promo-inserts

I used to save those stickers and stick them on this cabinet I had in my office. It was covered in those things! One day I just got tired of it and threw them all away.

Why? It's easier to press the pop-up menu button on your remote, than trying to read a chapter card in the dark.

I used to do this too, but had the same problem of the peeling dirty strips. Finally removed all of them, but the 'goo' remains on many. Anyone have any idea of a good product to remove the goo without stripping the plastic?

Oh, and back on to topic, I leave them in the case, no reason why. Out of sight, out of mind.

Goo Gone works, but I only use it as a last resort. I can usually get it off with scotch tape.

I toss any inserts that don't have anything to do with the movie. The update firmware one, blu-ray experience one, anti-theft ones all get tossed. I keep the digital copy ones even after I entered the code just in case a studio decides to do a new promotion that uses the codes. I wouldn't of been able to get my free copy of Superman Returns if I had thrown them out.

I'll only keep the inserts that contain poster arts, graphics related to the given movie, chapter lists, cast/crew lists, etc. Might also keep the BD User guides for Universal U-Control stuff.

I'll keep any fancy booklets that may come with it (like the "Halo Legends" enclyclopedia, or this little booklet that came with the original "Clash of the Titans" showing photos of the remake. And of course, the essays and photos that come with Criterion discs).

I'll keep lobby cards; heck, I'll probably hang them up over my desk at work.

I'll throw away the ads and information cards.

I'll redeem the rebate forms or coupons if they're included.

I take out all digital copies and their related insert, redeem them, stick them in a separate container, and swap out the multi-disc case with a single-disc case (or relace a 3-disc one with a 2-disc one).

I usually keep them, just because some people value them in a trade. One I ALWAYS throw away though is the white one with a disclaimer about Blu-ray that comes in every single Warner title.

Sometimes I have seen chapter listings on the inside sleeve. Since the blu-ray case is transparent you can just read it when you open the case. I thought that was nifty and should have caught on with more releases.

I toss ads and notices and keep Disney movie rewards/digital download sheets, guides for U-Control or other features, and booklets with info regarding the movie like in Iron Maiden Flight 666.

I trash all my inserts, there is no need for them. I also trash the digital copies and switch the actual Blu-ray disc and cover art over into a one disc case. Digital copies are also worthless to me, so they get to be up close and personal with the garbage as well.

I keep the inserts only if they have to do with the movie. Otherwise they go in the trash.
