Faux exasperation ranks slightly below facepalm gifs on the desperation scale.

But I'll give you credit for your new theory about the film's title. Bravo, sir.

The "Ultimate Edition" of each film....
Not really. If they just start with the '97 editions on the second disc, most changes between that and the 2004/2011 versions are minimal. I'm sure there are plenty of changes I'm forgetting, but in A New Hope, it's pretty much Obi-Wan's scream, R2 behind rocks, little tweaks to the Han/Greedo shot, and the Jabba scene. In Empire, all I can really think of is Bobba Fett's voice, the Emperor scene and Luke screaming/not screaming when he falls. In Jedi, it's basically Jabba's door being bigger, ewoks blinking, Anakin's Ghost and Vader's "Noooo!" There shouldn't really be any problem using seamless branching for all of that. I'm talking about changes from 1997-2011, by the way. I know there are way too many small changes made from the originals to have all versions on 1 disc.

It's funny you should say this...
My cousin is a Property Lawyer.
Intellectual Property is one aspect of her job.
I'll ask her tomorrow!

I have the unaltered original trilogy on VHS and Laserdisc.

I am so sorry to everyone on this site for derailing this thread so severely, it was not my intent. I had read so many different things on many sites about the ownership of the first star wars & thought there may have been a definitive statement somewhere.

I sincerely apologize to everyone here for causing so much distress, it was not my intent.

I've made peace not owning three of my all-time favorite films.

It's cool 6. No apologies needed, from you.
This comes up every few weeks.

Honestly, I'd rather "argue" about this than deal with Prequel/Special Edition haters.

What part of Disney do you not understand? Disney has the money to get whatever they want. Fox is not going to complain one bit. They will bow down and take it up the ass four times over if Disney demands it.

Not really a theory when it's written right next to the word "Title:"....At this point, I think you're just insisting that the sky is green.

This has been fun (really - I love maddening debates over stupid Star Wars stuff). Have a good night folks!

As it turns out there was a pretty definitive statement somewhere...namely the US Copyright Office web site.

And we would have never stumbled across it had you not derailed the thread so thanks

There is not going to be any lawsuit. Fox will get whatever Disney gives them and they will like it. It would cost Fox more money to do a lawsuit than what they would make by Disney doing as they see fit.

BTW, do you know what the fine print of the actual contracts stated? Because if so, I want a copy of them so I can read them.

My Uncle Gerardo says your sister is wrong.

Yes, my uncle is THE Gerardo. As in Rico Suave. And he's currently the President of Copyright and Intellectual Property Law. But you'll have to take my word for it.

Anyways, case closed, end of argument. Rico Suave always wins against a lady.

In all seriousness though, if your "sister" can look at that page and say it definitively sums up all the extant deals and claims to ownership that exist out there then she needs to either hit the books a little more or seek a different occupation. There would be no reason for someone to do the work you claim she does if all they did was look at a webpage and say "Yep."

This bickering is pointless! Disney (and Fox) will provide us with a new release sometime after these new masters are finished. We will then crush our old Blu-Rays with one swift stroke!

If you have plenty of time you only need to go back through 2500+ pages of thread. I could list about ten names from the same culprits but don't want to get anyone's panties in a bunch. Anytime someone posts something positive about a OUT release they pop up. Just like this whole rights issue nonsense that's going on
