You can say that again. It might be new movie based on this amazing story.
and of course it could be perfect timing for digital copy because they can sell a lot on account of hype for this new movie
it's just my idea

That's as may be, but they're still on the same page under the same store front, so the people who thought that Fox would hold off from releasing/licensing the original film to spite Disney are also wrong. Because money.

And it could also mean that these really ARE the original versions of the OT, because the original carries a Fox copyright whereas the SE editions are all copyright LFL...

I don't recall anyone saying that. Well maybe the people who thought Disney never would have bought LucasFilm with this kind of entanglements. But that was faulty circular logic and you can look through my posts and see that wasn't my take on it.

The poster art is for the Special Editions of the OT. No way these are theatrical. I just "found" the despecialized versions last night and have watched Star Wars and Empire and am half way though Jedi right now. They look good from a PS3 to my small TV so I am good for now.

I didn't say it was your take on it, but it's certainly been floated around in this thread. Implying that people were saying Fox would deliberately throw a spanner in the works was probably the wrong way to put it, but people have certainly thought out loud about the possibility of Disney and Fox not getting along re: Star Wars distribution. I think this has answered that.

I don't think at this point it really matters whether or not there is an official release of the Original Trilogy. Harmy has saved the day and soon someone will save the day again in 1080p. Let the studios miss out on our money, it's their loss. And they look beautiful on a 78" television I might add.

...but but...I thought Lucas got full rights for A New Hope when the Phantom Menace was released?

Fox will work with Disney for all future releases but there is no way in hell they give up distribution rights...ever.

I know

And just because it's released by the studio that does not really matter. Look at the current BD's they are not that great. They could not even be bothered with re-mastering them. They usually have terrible cover art like that awful Struzan poster art for the Special Editions.

Everything has a price and if enough money was waved in front of Fox I imagine they could be convinced that the original Star Wars film itself is worth parting with considering it's all they control.

That is a double-edged sword and as I said months ago when that hilarious debate was going on, the stuff Disney DOES own outright (practically everything else) is hardly affected by Fox's ownership.

The situation as it exists now is probably good enough for everyone involved.

Where were your sources a couple months back when you were embarrassing yourself about the whole 20th Century Fox thing?

I for one will never take you seriously now.
