In regards to the Digital Movie collection. Not sure if anyone has posted this
already, but here is a quote from Screenrant:

Bear in mind, longtime Star Wars fans: the Digital HD Collection will feature versions of Episodes IV-VI that includes all the Lucas-approved alterations and changes that’ve been made over the years – and which, now, are considered “canon”. You will have to check out unofficial Star Wars-related projects (like the “Despecialized Edition”) for the original theatrical cuts of Lucas’ first three Star Wars movies.

Doesn't sound promising!

Get back to us when a statement like this is offically given by Disney or Lucasfilm.

This....really sucks if you ask me. I don't want Vader screaming "NOOOoooooo" as he throws Palpy down the shaft, to be considered cannon! What version of ROTJ is currently on the DVD copy of the blu-ray/DVD set, out now?

Yes, we all already know this release will be the "special editions". That doesn't mean they will OR won't release the UOT someday, though like Bill Hunt I strongly believe Darth Iger will do it whenever he's ready.

You know what'd be funny? If the digital versions featured more or less changes, or even fixing changes from the 2011 release! :P

These are just the digital editions. The UOT is coming this year to BD. Get ready for the announcement soon

I have no idea why some of you do not think they are coming out.

I myself have often wondered if Lucas would ever make further changes to the films after the acquisition, or if Disney would even allow it.

Much as I would love that, nothing is really official, less you have something to prove otherwise.

The "Special Edition" Digital Copies will probably come out in May. The UOT will probably come out in November/December right around the time of the new film. This is my best guess.

I can prove it just about the same as some of you can disprove it. Sept 2015 the UOT will be released, I just know it.

If it does happen, I think November or December would probably be a better bet.

EDIT: I see you beat me to it GenPion.

She has also worked with Spielberg a lot over the years and was probably primarily picked for her great producing and business skills. She is a good fit to manage the property/franchise.

I'm pointing this out because Spielberg has alluded to the fact that he doesn't agree with Lucas's decision to only release revised versions of the Star Wars films. He made it clear he didn't agree with him. And with the approach given to E.T. on home media (where he decided to include only the original version), the stance is even clearer... i.e. just because Kennedy has worked with Lucas before it doesn't automatically mean she will prevent the release of the UOT. Even though Spielberg and Lucas are close friends it seems like Spielberg would just give fans the original versions of Star Wars they want if it were up to him. Who is to say Kennedy might not share a similar position?

Unless the sale of Star Wars/LucasFilm to Disney came with a contractual stipulation that the original versions can never be released, I feel confident it will eventually happen.

The re-release of E.T. with the digital gun replacements in 2002 was so derided and mocked, it underperformed at the box-office. It angered people, and I think the box office numbers embarrassed Spielberg. E.T. is one of his greatest triumphs, and to see the altered version struggle to $15 million on opening weekend and then peeter out must have been a shock. Spielberg has a good attitude about these sorts of things, he says if the audience doesn't like one of his movies, the audience isn't "wrong", there was something wrong with the movie. Mr. Lucas digs in his heels against criticism, Spielberg is open to it and listens and adjusts accordingly.

So yeah, a simple yes or no from someone in the "know," would be nice. It's not exactly like they put this kind of thing on the back of the box....
