I reserve judgement until I hear it preceding the Star Wars theme, even if only just a few seconds of it...

Fox fanfare has been linked historically with the opening Star Wars music more than any other film.
So, I'm against replacing it!
I just hope it isn't replaced in the OT BLurays (if they ever get released)

Interesting point, this weekend I bought the enhanced editions of the rinzler making of Star Wars books for the ipad. The clips were amazing, different extended scenes I had never seen before. The funniest was a daily from the greedo scene showing beyond doubt that Han was the only one to shoot. Kinda flies in the face of George's assertion it was a bad edit and that the take was Mis-interpreted as greedo had always fired. Complete bs.

It's...interesting. Like others have said, I'd like to hear it preceding the Star Wars theme before making a final decision.

I care not, people thinking Disney will be advertising Fox are nuts.
It could however have been done better

why does Warners leave the MGM logo on or Universal leaves the Paramount logo on their acquisitions
Anyway, Disney is the worst company to me, and I just hope someone else could release/restore their films too!
Eg. Thunderbean studio or Criterion their classic animation catalogue and Arrow their classic live action catalogue)
(of course that would never happen)

I almost feel like the new theme is TOO Williams-ish. (I suppose it's also possible that he in fact wrote it given his work on the new one.) What was great about the original fanfare was how striking Williams' music was after that initial "get ready!" fanfare. There was a stronger punctuation in my opinion after the Fox theme. Now it seems to be a little more seamless because of the similarity in tone.

Well here's hoping we get new news on a future release soon. I still think a release this fall will be perfect. I'm not sure the Digital Copies will sell that well, but I'm sure it cost pennies on the dollar to distribute so they'll make a profit either way.

Right!? Finally someone who agrees! Luckily, I just called Disney Customer Service and my complaint will be going to the marketing department.

They wont sell that well. 90 bucks for something that you can convert to digital yourself. No way on this green earth would I pay 90 dollars for that.

Isn't the new theme from the movies? I'm pretty sure I heard it in some of them.

I am ashamed. I figured it was sourced from one of the movies, but was listening at work and couldn't really turn it up. I didn't want to sound stupid assuming it was from a movie and then it turns out that it was a new composition. Now, the reverse has happened.

Anyway, all that confirmation does is solidify my point about it not being different enough. (And this coming from a huge huge huge fan of Williams.)

Keep in mind that those acquisitions were for an old back catalogue of various movies, not specific franchises that have been very much resurrected. As silly as it might seem to ignore such history, Disney want to put their mark on Star Wars and removing Fox from anything they can legally do will be a part of that. Personally I think that's why there's such a huge 'copyright Fox' notice at the end of the Vudu trailer for the original movie, it's a pointed response to Disney (not so much LFL) wanting to airbrush them from Star Wars' history.
